I just got a phone call that started "My name is Mimi and I want to inform you about lower interest rates"wait for the blurb to complete, then it gives you two options, 1 or 3. 1 sends you to an actual person while 3 is supposed to take you off their list.  I have pressed 3 over 10 times in the last few months to calls like this and still get them.  I pressed 1 and a reasl person came on the line.

I asked to speak with his manager or supervisor. He said there was no manager as they were busy.  I then asked to be put on hold untill he was able to speak with me. I was put on hold for about 30 seconds then was disconnected.

You people are lucky to talk to people. Whenever I get 000-000-0000 it's always about winning a free trip to the Bahamas.

From what I've learned, many cell phones will ring differently if the caller ID is blocked. Using a 000-000-0000 number bypasses this feature. The last time I got this, I automatically forwarded it to voice mail and the computerized telemarketer still left a voice mail message.

That's when I decided enough is enough. Call your phone company. You can selectively block specific numbers and 000-000-0000 can be blocked so it has no access to your phone. End of problem.

Next time you get a call from this number please report the following to them if you are located in Canada:

****Telemarketers must display the originating calling number or an alternate number where the call originator can be reached (except where the number display is unavailable for technical reasons).****

Take down all caller information : Agent Name, Company Name/Address, Phone number, Time of call, reason for call etc....

Then take the information and place a formal complaint with the CRTC.

Excuse me miss. Sorry if this seems a bit forward, but may I ask what part of the country you are from?

I am now left to wonder if this call may be from the cell phone of someone I know and not a telemarketer? Thanks for your time.

This 000-000-0000 number also comes up when a subscriber is out of country and the network does not have caller ID compatibility. I have also seen it when using conference features in 3-way dialing when connecting the loop to the third party. Sometimes.

Telemarketers also frequently use this number to make calls, I have witnessed it many times before.

Some telemarketers opt to use this number de facto because the use of digits overrides measures by calling parties that subscribe to call privacy features (such as those that block private name, number or unknown caller from ringing through).

You could be right about the Verizon Broadband number. I get this call periodically and it resembles a number when a Skype number calls a landline. I have Skype and if I call my landline, I get the number
000-001-2345.

I used to receive calls from thsi number all the time. On the voicemail it was some recording sounding like a 900 lady. To illustrate the absurdity, I am a female and I do not call 1-900 lines. She would say something like we miss you sexy we havent heard from you in awhile. Call us, we need you. But they would leave no number. Because I didnt answer, it would call back in 10 seconds, then 30 seconds, then 1 minute. then randomly after that until it finally stopped. Very odd.
