ID showed 000-000-0000, I answered, fellow asked if a Sarah worked here. I told him know. He apologized and hung-up. A few minutes later, same fellow called again with same caller-ID. Again, he asked if he could speak with Miss ?(not Sarah). I told him that he had called a few minutes before, and that he was calling a back-line to a law office. He apologized, and asked what kind of law we did. I hung up w/o answering. He did not call back. This happened yesterday, 24 April 07.
His voice was American accent, mid-west (no drawl, pleasant- I figured he was a telemarketer.) Submitting this just to add to the data-base.
I have been getting this number on my cell phone and also on my home number as well and I do not answer it. Beware they will continue to call everyday.
I get this 1-000-000-0000 on my cell from time to time, but it looks so obviously deceptive that I never answer, but let the call go to voice message. They never leave a message, for which I am grateful. Don't answer if you can help it. I don't use Blockbuster, so there must be others using this deception.
When I get the calls from 1-000-000-0000, it says to call 1-800-318-0166 and so I called and someone answered. I ask what company this was and they told me: CASH FLOW 500.. Finally someone was nice to me because I asked if they would stop calling my number and so far they have. So maybe someone out there can let everyone know, this is who has been calling forever.
This guy was relentless. He tells me I won some groceries and some free gas for using my credit card for an online purchase. Funny I don't use this particular card for anything but to pay for storage rental. So, I asked what did I buy and he said "something" and I said what? He just kept telling me I was a preferred customer and something or other. He said I just needed to "verify" my card number to pay the $2.50 to get my free groceries and gas. Scammer. I told him no thanks, I don't need free groceries or gas. He kept calling for about a week after that, either from 0000000000 or from 1-000-000-0000. Freak. He called on both my cell phone and my home phone. I did not answer and he finally stopped calling.
If you put your caller ID rejection service on *60, then add that number to the list #01#, it won't stop it from calling, but it WILL give you the real number that is calling you!
After numerous times of 0000000000 calling my cell phone, I answered it asking (or rather shouting angrily) "who the hell is this and what do you want?" A woman's voice asked what did I say and I repeated it. The caller hung up and hasn't call back again.
I guess it is a telemarketing cover up. This number shows up constantly on my cell phone caller i.d. The two times I decided to answer, there was only silence. By the way, I don't do business with blockbuster or gmac, so it appears to be an attempt used by any telemarketer.
I receive calls from this # quite often, my husband owes a CC company the balance left and a collection company uses it to hide their number when they call, weird, so i dont think its something that just telemarketers are using, I think that someone is marketing to companies that make many phone calls and offering them a service to "block" their # so they dont get disconnected if it shows "private" or its blocked....trixies, arent they?
I agree with that message. It is probably a number that many companys use to cover their real number. I read that blockbuster video uses it. A lady from GP serices called me with that number, and now I hear it is telemarketers.
People, don't get so upset with these calls. Make a game of it. Especially the ones that want to come to your home to handle refinancing of mortgages. I have them show up and tell them at the door that I am wasting their time because they wated mine. They have your address so have them mail you information with postage paid return envelopes. Cut and paste to a box of junk mail and send it back to them. They pay the shipping and you smile knowing they won't call you again. You can't stop them from getting around the laws so you can make it expensive for them.
Couldn't agree more. If it becomes too expensive for these sleaze bags to operate, they'll shut down. Another option to get their attention - tell them you're really interested and ask for their printed materials. My name?...Pias Dauff...and my address just happens to be my MP's constituency office. Maybe if MP's have to deal with the ramifications of this shady industry they might just show up for work more than a few days of the month and actually bring in some legislation that gives us back some control over the phone services we pay for and stop these crooks from abusing the poor, desperate and young people they rope into making the calls.
It now has been 8 days in a row that I have gotten a call from 000-000-0000 every time I answer it because I want to tell them to stop but each time there is no one on the line. This is really making me angry. I wish there was a way to make this stop.
I get calls from this all the time. There is a woman called Monica Alexander. She says she works for GP services. Then I get mad and hand up. they will not give up. They need to drop it.
000-000-0000 keeps showing up on my caler ID. I answered and each time they called me by name and said they have my Visa # on file. I stop them there. I told them that I work for a bank and they do not have my Visa # on file and that they are going to ask me to verify the number so they can make transactions against my account. I said this is harrassment and could you please stop? his time a girl said, "since you said please, yes. ma'am. Have a good day. Then she hung up. Imagine that.
I started receiving calls from this number Monday, June 25 and have gotten them at least once a day. I did not answer the calls and the times I was not at home no message was left. I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize or "private" calls, I figure if they know me they will leave a message if it's legit. However, today since I had been receiving some many calls from this number I answered it and no one said anything. I hung up quickly in the event the perps on the other end were up to something illegal. Don't answer these calls, just like email spam if you ignore them (with email delete without opening), they will go away. I hate I answered today.
