I got a new cell a couple of weeks ago and I have been receiving these weird texts non-stop.  It's always from "6245" and it says strange or perverted things, or sometimes carries advertisements. Does anyone here know how to stop them from coming?

If you are on verizon, you can stop them by going to vtext.com

I'll tell you from first hand, that these txt messages are in fact being sent BY A PERSON, from a website, as explained a couple emails above mine. It's easy to send txt messages from a website, and would require that someone know your cell number, and that they are intentionally wanting to be annonymous!!! If I was a woman worried about my man getting these--(and, I am a woman, but with no man)--I'd talk to him about who could be sending them--it's the new technology being used by people who know how to use it--and, from my experience, it is symptomatic of dating in this new millennium. You SHOULD also know that you should be able to log into your cell account online, and set your preferences to NOT receive emails from websites. I just did this myself, through Verizon!!! Works great.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I've been experiencing several random text messages from various fictious numbers. I have Verizon but the block preferences did not work. I had to block all text messages completely!
This is not acceptable and I don't want to change the number that I've had for seven years.

This is very frustrating...

Someone is sending you guys text messages from this website http://www.onlinetextmessage.com/. I send my fiance text messages from this site all the time and that's the same phone number that shows up on our phone bill. But anyways just try it out and see if it does show up on your phone bill. I hope this helps everyone out. Good luck to you all.

They are fishing for actual real numbers.  The address of the website they send you is unique to YOUR phone number.  If you actually respond by visiting the website they know that you got the message - that there is a live person on the other end who actually went to the website and so your number will now make it onto all kinds of crazy lists.

I believe I have the definitive answer to the 0000006245 number.  I checked my unbilled actvitiy on Verizon messaging section and there were several on my husband's messaging to and from this number.  So I checked my own messaging usage and there were only three.  I verified by checking the dates and times of what I saw on the unbilled activity against the saved messages on my phone.  They corresponded precisely to messages sent by number@VTEXT.com, whereas "number" would be an actual phone number.  Other numbers were present as well:  0000006200 & 0000005003.  If it is "from", it came from vtext most likely originated from the internet Verizon vtext site, and if it is "to" then it is replying to the message received.

I found this on my bill and looked into it, I have signed up for a weather alert system that my county provides (severe weather alerts). The number that shows up on verizon's text log is 0000006245. You people had me paranoid before I discovered what it was, calm down a bit and do some research.

OMG! I randomly went through my boyfriends phone bill (Verizon) back in April. I saw so many text messages being sent back and forth constantly to 000-000-6245 at all hours of the day. I brought it to his attention and he denied it. I was really upset and i did not believe him so i decided that it would be best to go on a break. We have been together for 4 years and a break has never crossed my mind but i could not get over him texting this random number. We got back together after a while, promising that i would leave that subject alone but it was always on my mind. I decided to google the number and i found this site and DAMN i am so f*ing happy. I have read about so many people going thru the same thing and i feel relieved, but i also feel like an a*hole. Its crazy how these spam texts can be sent. I am just happy that i finally found out cuz it was eating me alive. i have apologized to my boyfriend and hopefully we can move on from this. Verizon or whoever need to fix this ASAP because this can be devistating to any relationship.
