I'm with Fido (Rogers.com)    ALSO JUST REGISTERED on Rogers Yahoo re: internet!   That's when I got the typical SMS's.
IS THIS A COINCIDENCE ???
Another observation is that the messages SEEM TO KNOW THE GENDER of the target recipient !!!
This IS A REQUIRED FIELD when setting up a WINDOWS LIVE I.D. (for access to Roges/yahoo)

hey i got the same message but the website was hope0707.friend-jump.net and called themselves hope0707. this is some creepy stuff and what are we sopposed to do?

I kept getting the same texts but I figured out where they were coming from... They take you to a dating site called FriendJungle!!! I got texts at 2 AM!!! I emailed the site... Hope that helps

I got one twice this morning because the first one cut out it was from bludevilgirl_822k.datemansion.net, and ya it said i got ur number from a friend and i bet you can't recognize me online, and "well see u soon"
itz kinda creepy and after seeing this page i think if i get another one i am going to call up fido.

i got a 2 texts that said "hey,i got ur number from  a friend of yours but i bet u cant guess who i am! my usernames pretty_femme if you" then the next one.. "want to see who this is [[or something like tht]] go see my profile  at pretty_femme.dateehop.org"

I'm a FIDO user and just received a text message from the fido website from this person who says their user name is teeny4. "Hey, I got your number from a friend of mine, but I bet you can't guess who I am!  My user name's teeny4, if you     teeny4"  Giant scam if you ask me!!  Do not reply to these kinds of text messages!!  Can you imagine what would happen if the phone companies are successful at trying to get us to start paying for incoming text messages???  We'll all be poppers!

Has anyone purchased anything from the internet where they require your address and also a contact phone number?? I received the teeny4 text message yesterday and i don't give out my number to anyone but family...but i did buy a pair of jeans from jeanery.com not too long a ago and i gave them but number just incase anything happens and they did end up calling confirming the order...You think they would've "SOLD" my personal infomation to a marketer ??? How else would ANYONE get my phone number?

If I want to get list of Fido phone numbers I make program to use whitepages.ca reverse lookup. When you enter your phone number there you will see Provider: Fido, Type: Cell phone. Program could enter phone numbers form 416-100-0000 to 416-999-9999 and put into the list only thouse wich have proveder Fido and type Cell phone, for example. Such program could work by itself and after few days you will get list of Fido cystomer's phone numbers. This is the answer on questions: How they get my phone number? Another program or the same program could use Fido web site to send text messages to phone numbers from the list. Easy? In other countries they use to limit number of text messages you can send from the same IP-address and use more compicated way to block such programs, so only humans can send text messages. Canada cell phone providers in a past compare to Europe for 10 years. They even can't block stolen phone by IMEI number. And in Europe all incoming calls and text messages are free by law.
