I received a call from "Jordan" rom a company called something like "Sunbec" - his spelling wasn't clear.
He tried to make it clear that he wasn't selling anything but just wanted to give me some information about how I could save money by installing solar panels.  He didn't ask if I already had solar panels fitted.
I asked to speak to his manager, who was called Joseph Anthony.  He came on the line and asked to confirm who he was speaking to, using a name I have not gone by for 40 years!
I asked him where he obtained my details and he said it was from "The UK Public Database".  There is no such thing. On the grounds that he might have meant to say "a UK public database" I asked where that had come from and he said "The UK Embassy".
That is most definitely a complete lie.  Embassies are not allowed to give out lists of their citizens, and in any case, that would not include telephone numbers.
I pointed out that my number is ex-directory and I am also listed with the Telephone Preference Service.  Both these actions are so that I do not get pestered by unsolicited calls.  However he then said "We don't care about the TPS!".
I replied that id he didn't care about the TPS and the wishes of its subscribers then I shouldn't care about what his company either.
