- AliceJust zgot a call from this number claiming that my computer was sending error messages. It has to do with windows. Said his name was Jack from company called Nirvana. Gave me a number to call back 222-886-6073. I did not call back. No problems with my computer....
- Caller: Nirvanaw
- Canadian computer userJust got a call similar to what Alice described. Accent sounds like he is from India, but he doesn't say so and claims his name is "Ian Brown" calling from the Technical Services Department of Microsoft Windows. He insisted he was not selling anything when I asked.
Claims to have a free service to detect the junk files and spyware on my computer. I asked him what my name was and he said "William B_____" which is actually my husband's name, and my voice is clearly a female voice. I asked him where he got that name. He said my computer is registered in that name, which it is not. In fact, William has a Mac, not a Microsoft product. My Windows is registered in my name, not his. when I pressed him about cost, he admitted there would be a "one time fee" to deal with anything they found after the free software that would detect it.
I discontinued the call. He obviously got my husband's name from the phonebook or an online phone directory, not from any registration.- Caller: Apparently lying about Microsoft
- Call type: Telemarketer
- EricaB| 1 replyJust got the same call. Must admit I wasn't very polite. I told him I was on the Do Not Call List (for all the good it does). I also told him I wasn't falling for his scam to hack into my computer. I then mentioned a sunless place where he might put his computer.
I am so tired of all these calls!- Caller: Unknown computer company.
- Slim replies to EricaBModern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit your favorite sales site.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. - FredMy caller was named Steven he sounded of Indian decent also ... He told me my computer was having issues, I replied "I have a computer!???" As I do not (posting this from my phone) he then immediate hung up ... I then excitedly pleaded for Steven to return, however my efforts were fruitless.
- brianjust another scam call from 'windows support' for your virus infected Windows computer.
One of these decades, the police will give a crap about phone scams. But then again, the NSA(U.S. and Canada) already know who all these callers are, but refuse to bust heads.- Caller: scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AnonamousMy caller said his name was Mike. He also sounded like he was from India. He did not tell me the company name. He just told me there was a problem with my computer. I told him that I didn't own any computers and ended the call.
