This number repeatedly calls at all times of the day and when you answer it just beeps like a fax.

We have been called by this caller for a number of months now, we thought it was a fax number, we have tried to send them a fax to tell them that our number is not a fax number but only get an engaged signal, does anyone know who they are?

we have been getting these calls daily for about 18 months. I don't have a fax machine can anyone accept this fax, may give a clue to who they are.

Ive been getting about 10 of these a day for the past few days, at all hours!  I get a beep when I answer it (like a fax) but when i try to call back to see who it is I keep getting a 'connection error'.  Who does this number belong to?

5 calls in one day,who is the idiot that is making my life hell? is there some sort of police action that can be taken against him/her?

Just letting you all know that i am having the number traced through telstra so we can all find out once and for all who the hell this idiot annoying everyone is!!!

getting calls 4-5 times a day from this number for the past 2-3 weeks, they are calling/faxing/pranking our busines line.... ever so annoying!
hope telstra can get it sorted.

I receive multiple calls from this number each day.
am starting to note time etc so as to get Telstra to perform a "Malicious Call Trace" in order to identify the offending party.

we have been getting the same calls from this number as well lots of times,it started about 3weeks ago like a fax number when you answer and i also tried ringing the number back and got the engaged signal and the calls started again today i am so sick of the idiot thats doing this i hope that telstra can trace the number!!!!!

I also received calls from this number. Just got off the phone from Telstra and they have confirmed thatt he number is not a Telstra customer. They believe the number to be a fax telemarketing service. To have your number [possibly] removed from their spam list, contact Meidatel on 02 9006 6075. This is an automated service to opt out. I have just opted my number out so I will let you know if the calls cease.

Well, as it turns out, the phone calls have started again. Optus refuses to help also... Any ideas???

We've received a number of inquiries from people receiving these calls, we have been trying to work out why and this post may be one reason.

Unfortunately Mediatel is unable to assist with this issue. If the calls are originating from a promotional campaign, Telstra are incorrect in telling their customers we are able to opt people out of this promotion or in making the suggestion we are conducting it.

The automated service mentioned above is particular to own our services - not a general service - and is given specifically to customers who have used products we have operated.

Unfortunately not likely to assist in the short term (where you are receiving repetitive calls at the moment from an unknown source) but the Federal Government runs a general Do Not Call Register you may like to add your numbers to https://www.donotcall.gov.au/. Companies that promote via these methods should remove any number that appears on the Register.

We have tried to work out what company 'owns' that number to assist people finding this post however like the other people who have commented already, we cant find any information about it. Sorry we could not be of more assistance.

We will post again if we do find out when talking to Telstra about correcting their misinformation.

I too complained to the Do Not Call Register - their official response is that fax spam is not covered by the DNCR act 2006. It's still telemarketing though... I have also lodged this with my provider and the TIO. I'll let you know how it goes.

Telstra traced the calls and they told me that it a rougue overseas telemarketer that runs its calls through an australian phone number and that they are familiar with this number. Now that they traced it for me they will send them a letter to stop harrassing but she said it probably wont do much and that our best cause of action is for everyone to ring telstra, and have ur phone traced (its free) and then make sure you pick up all the calls from this number and then record the date and time and when you have 3-5 calls over 2-3 days ring 1800805996 and tell them the dates and times. if we all do this enough times, telstra then has the right to suspend the number. You can also ring 1300792958 and register free to have this number put on ur "do not call" list. You can also after having the calls traced, opt to have the number blocked, but it will cost u $0.55 a week.

I just called the number 0293864777 and the guy said it is not there fax number 0285076600 calling everyone. hes been getting calls all week about it but knows nothing about the number. iv been recieving the same calls by that number probably ova the last 4 weeks only once or twice a day tho!

It is their number, I havent received a called from 0285076600 since I phoned 0293864777 and asked them to remove my phone number from their list

I have been getting calls from 0285076600 for months - beeps like a fax but no fax.  Does anyone know how to stop/block these calls?

Just had a thought.  My phone has a caller list for speed dialing.  I've entered the number, called it "nuisance" and placed it on the Blocked Senders List.  It should work.
