We've received a number of inquiries from people receiving these calls, we have been trying to work out why and this post may be one reason.
Unfortunately Mediatel is unable to assist with this issue. If the calls are originating from a promotional campaign, Telstra are incorrect in telling their customers we are able to opt people out of this promotion or in making the suggestion we are conducting it.
The automated service mentioned above is particular to own our services - not a general service - and is given specifically to customers who have used products we have operated.
Unfortunately not likely to assist in the short term (where you are receiving repetitive calls at the moment from an unknown source) but the Federal Government runs a general Do Not Call Register you may like to add your numbers to
https://www.donotcall.gov.au/. Companies that promote via these methods should remove any number that appears on the Register.
We have tried to work out what company 'owns' that number to assist people finding this post however like the other people who have commented already, we cant find any information about it. Sorry we could not be of more assistance.
We will post again if we do find out when talking to Telstra about correcting their misinformation.
