Mima - 19 Nov 2008Guys, just called westpac, the calls from 2 89886140, or 02 89886409 has nothing to do with them ( or that's what they claim).
But I believe it, they advised me to go to the site https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ and register, the calls should stop them otherwise they are liable for huge charges.

freddy - 10 Jun 2008yeah - same here. 02 89886172 keeps calling. when the number is dialed, it directs to "financial advice centre" and the message is in an American accent. Pretty sure it is an auto dialer?

swannie - 20 Aug 2008We keep getting calls from this number too.They never say anything,just hang up. They have called before and are something to do with American Express.Every time they ring it's from a different number.They also use 02 8988-6409.

Ange - 24 Sep 2008I received hang up calls from 8988 6172 and 89886140. I was contacted by Westpac Financial Services - a telemarketer today after visiting this site, put two and two together, and can confirm 8988 6140 is Westpac. I suspect the other number is also.
