Didn't identify this caller, they hung up before I could get to the phone. Calling back gives the message "we regret that the number you have dialed is temporarily out of service" and then the voice says "06LX11 12" 2 times.

Our number is on the donotcall.gov.au list

If you are in Australia, this number (03 8803 7699) belongs to a telemarketer, Telstra is their service provider and knows their identity. Contact the Do Not Call Register (ADMA), a department of the Australian Communications and Media Authority, on 1300 792 958 and make a formal complaint. I contacted the ADMA to make a complaint, then contacted Telstra to complain about unwelcome calls (1800 805 996), Telstra confirmed that the number belonged to a telemarketer, but wouldn't identify them for privacy reason! I rang the ADMA back to let them know and now they are investigating, hopefully they will string them up by their balls.

The company who tried to contact you is Austview Holdings, trading as Smart Health Australia.

The ADMA believes that the company is a charity. Calls made by charities do not fall within the Do Not Call Register Act(2006), however charitable calls are still subject to to the Telecommunications Industry Standard and limits the hours that they can call, requires them to enable calling line identification and requires them to provide certain information to consumers.

Their web address is www.sha.net.au and Head Office phone number is 03 8554 6100. Ring them up and let them know how you feel!!!!!!

    Hi Guy

I'm from Smart Health. We make calls on behalf of Australian charities to raise much needed dollars for them. The reason that calls don't answer if someone calls us back on that number is that we use a predictive dialler to make outbound calls and don't allow inbound calls on that number. For each charity, we have a gift line number which is used to answer donor queries.

    Best regards

Maybe you can explain the harassing calls, which the ADMA describes as silent calls, over the past few months. Calls that terminate when either myself or my family answer the phone. My elderly grandmother is worried that someone is trying to case the place, in order to burgle it.

Smart Health Australia is a telemarketing business, which ever way you look at it, setup to take advantage of the loophole offered by acting on behalf of charities and not for profit organizations.

The fact that you've submitted a reply to this forum confirms your organization's guilt. By the way give me your home number and I'll ring it 4 or 5 times a day and then hang up, you will soon understand how annoying it is.

    Montoya.
Update to all, l rang & filed a complaint with the ADMA, they are investigating this number, they also confirmed that this telemarketing company is indeed a Customer of Telstra. Telstra also confirmed today that it is correct. However, today  l spent an hour on the phone with Telstra complaints; 1800-805-996. Telstra have  now put a trace on this number  that is now ringing me 4 times a day & are sending a warning letter to the Telemarketing Company to tell them to desist from calling me. They have also now blocked this number from harassing me any more. You can request the same service from Telstra, as long as you have had 2-3 phone calls  in any 24 hour period from this number, they will block it, put a trace on your line  & investigate further at no charge. So everyone should do this. Good Luck, Montoya.

his number called me twice today. It had hacked into my contacts on the 2nd call and put itself down as my grandkids school number. I spent the next 15 minutes frantically trying to ring the school thinking something had happened to my grandkids. After speaking to the school I was told by them that my grandkids were fine and they never rang me and had no idea who it was as the number has nothing to do with them. The number was 0388037699 and they are a regional victoria school so the number are nothing alike. I rang this number many many times from my mobile and from a landline but each time not answered when it rang or the busy signal came up. Not happy and want these people reported. They somehow hacked my contacts on the second call and posed as the school number cause on the 1st call which was missed it just come up as 0388037699  and when i tried to return the call it rang as that number. Whilst returning their call they had rang back and then i noticed it came up then as the grandkids school name and went nuts trying to get a hold of the school on that above number thinking it was the school. Eventually googled th school to get another number and spoke to them

For the past few months have also received many of these calls averaging about 4 a day, have just finished writing a letter to Smart Health Australia to have my number removed from their database, have requested a reply ASAP to confirm this, will send a copy of letter to my member of Parliament & will seek other legal options as this is becoming an harassment situation. I am a stroke survior & rely on my phone,  I am aware of elderly people in my area & my parents who rush to answer their phone to find the other party hangs up, by dialling *10# (free call) you are able to find out the number who has called, through websites like this I was able to find out who Smart Health Australia is (they have a website).
I am aware this organization is a charity but please respect our privacy & stop harassing us.

most peoples phone rings six times-before your answering service comes in;I suspect these firms, actually also get paid by the calls they make-not just the money raised.

so; if they can dial many numbers-then not have to bother with talking to people to try and persuade them to donate; they can register the fact they have tried many times to get money by phoning x amount of customers-which makes more money for them;  than having customers who answer and they have to  talk to-then the customer actually declines to donate-despite them taking all that time talking;  when they could be ringing a lot of numbers, hanging up, logging them in and extracting payments from the charity for each number logged up; as having been called.
I suspect in this way-the companies are making a lot of money and the charities who trust them, are getting well and truly ripped off.
Much better to pick a few major charities that apeal to you-send a cheque or similar and tell the charity marketers, you already donate to enough charites- who get all the money you donate!
Had two missed calls from these people today-two different numbers

Totally agree Mike. These people have been ringing me from early morning to late evening every day for months and months, ever since I switched my phone server to Telstra funnily enough! It is not okay for them to repeat call like this. It stressed me out! They ring more than debt collectors do! And not even ONCE did they leave a message..... they would have called me easily over 100 times in the last few months. INSANE. I blocked their number but even still I would get a text message to alert me that they had rung. Still they wouldn't stop.
