I got a text message from this number today saying...

*Hey how are you. i am so busy withwork pushing 16 hours a day, anyway i broke up with my gf and i have a party to go to fnd (think they meant 'and') nicolas cage and ashton kutcher will be there. did you want to come as i have to rsvp asapcant believe i am dateless. ha ha :)*

God these random numbers go to some length to get money out of you! It would probably cost an arm and a leg to reply or call to find out who it was!

Span - we have got the exact same message we beleive he has taken the number from the gumtree website.

We have had other random messages from this number also.

I actually put an add on Gumtree recently so he mush have gotten the number from there. I will remove ASAP. Tossers!

I put an add on gumtree.. got the same msg, except when I called him he didnt seem to know anything about the msg or who I was? Really wanted to go to that party aswell!!

How do they extract your number from gumtree if it isn't displayed in the ad?

i just got the same msg.... when i asked who it was he said so sorry he is an idiot and just got a new phone typed the wrong number and sorry for the inconvenience then i responded with thats fine sorry to hear bout the girlfriend and after he replied 'i cant believe i just sent that to a stranger hahah what a crack up sorry!'"

i think this person is a little weird.... and i just put an ad on gumtree too :(

i got the same msg today and randomly yesterday my credit card accounts got cleared so im not sure if that is connected but pretty pissed off.... i also only put an add on gumtree a few days ago...

this guy is mentally unstable - he preys on single young women off dating sites sending them the same message and hoping for a bite! do not respond! contact the police!

i got the exact msg about the party etc...and the follow one....however stupid me followed it through with some more replies and said at end this is very weired and he replied yes i know...
i have not put my nr on gumtree so i have no idea where got my details

i got the same outline of message from this nr via sms and i didnt advertise on gumtree....

this annoying person is doing the same to me. doesnt have the balls to speak up, just hangs up in your face. have reported him to the police.

The other day I got invited to the exact same party from this wierdo, yes Nicholas Cage and Ashton were gonna be there too!  This guy said he'd just landed and had jetlag, said he buys and sells oil and gas to governments - yeah right!  I had my suspicions from the start but played out a little until the grand finale when I told him how bored he must be to have to do this!  Haven't had an ad on Gumtree for months though, don't know how he got my number.  Sounds like he is sticking to Vodafone to Vodafone to save on charges!

Same messages I got today three within 20 mins. Does he just text or has anyone had any more problems with this number???? Is he targeting a certain area in aust ? I'm in melb.

Yep, same message be careful in replying or calling, as you may be getting charged at a higher call rate than normal....ignore and delete

OMG!! i Got the same msg!! and he said 'sorry to didnt mean to send that to a stranger' 'haha what a crack up'' sorry for the disturbance'  he claimed to be some guy that sells oil and whatnot and lives in sydney/gold coast. apparently used to be some big hot shot "robert bassili" - ive never heard of this guy and it all seemed to wacked so i told him to get lost? i have also reported him to the police.

Clo- sounds like this guy is a professional con artist. I googled the name Robert bassili as someone mentioned, and u should see what came up. I would seriously be contacting the authorities! I hope they find him. Wat a sick puppy.

His name is Robert Bassili and he is on parole for fraud. He was CEO of a bogus company and sponsored wests tigers. He is a dangerous psychopath. Watch out!
