i got the same message a early today "hi mate.please am making enquiry in regards of ur car add on carsales.Get back to me on matt.crisell@gmail.com as my phone is presently scrambled"?

Got the same message word for word but from a "Chris Smyth". Did not sound right from the start but I contacted him from my work email and he went into a story about how he was on a ship but could not call out on satphone (but he could still email?), wanted car as a surprise for wife, wanted to pay through paypal, send through my paypal email, will send someone to pick up car, etc - sure glad I did a Google search on the phone number.

I got the same story yesterday from Matt Crisell - sailor on boat, phone scrambled, want to buy car for wife, will pay through Paypal etc Money is ready to transfer. We exchanged several emails yesterday but today all has gone quiet. Decided to google the name - very glad i did.

I just got the sane thing this morning.. "hello mate,Is your car advert on carsales is still available?.pls get back to me on matt.crisell21@gmail.com as my phone line is presently scrambled.Thanks "

He just tried the same on my car (carsales). His new Number is 0410 014 425

I got same message yesterday in response to my car ad on carsales.  Email wasnt good english, wasnt  Aussie, . Also gave too much info like he was trying to convince me Paypal was safest option for payment. Wife in Darwin, just had baby. Sat phone on ship not working. blah blah
Alarm bells rang straight away.  Then I googled the name. matthew crisell email matt.crisell21@gmail.com.
I have reported to Carsales.com. so I hope they can do something.

I've just reported this guy to Crime stoppers, and so should everyone who receives a call from this low life.

His number is a Vodafone number, so he is in Australia and the police at least a chance of catching him.

Had the same thing from a Matthew Crisell and got a similar thing from a Jake Madson at least this guy can spell.

I am selling a boat on Boatpoint and same scam wants Palpal etc same line Satphone not working take the boat off as he wants to be the one to buy and has a carrier ready to pick up because he is a sailor from Darwin and not able to view the boat .....................[***] not very good english

This guy's still at it but it looks like he's changing his MO. I listed my car on CarSales also and received a text from "Smyth Crisell" who asked me to email him at smyth.crisell@blumail.org. Same emails followed as everyone else has received, ie, wife just given birth ... surprise for her.. sailore in absentia..  I will be reporting to Crime Stoppers as these scum bags need to be stopped

i got one the other day same story at sea scrambled phone wife gave birth.i was a bit suss lucky i googled it wtf is wrong with theese people cant even sell a car these days without people trying to rip you off hope he gets run over.

This time we cant see his number. His gone to more of an effort to hide his number and now it shows up as "carinquiry" making it sound just a little more leget.

Clearly theres no point in telling the police. Becuase this issue has been raised since Jan and still they either havnt caught him or just delete our case as soon as we hang up.

Thanks for your reply, i love the car and i've read everything about the car on gumtree and am ready to buy as soon as possible but am currently of offshore due to the nature of my job, i work on sea in United Kingdom, Get back to me on how to proceed with the buy.
