Who is this? The phone cut off before I could answer it, but the number is "not recognised". I got the  number from 1471.

I picked up the phone at 16.11 today and there was a beep followed by an automated voice saying "goodbye", then the line went dead. I dialled 1471 and got the number 061 6606 872. I have no idea who it belongs to or why they were calling. I assume I didn't get the whole call/message. Very odd........

The Indian sounding caller asked for Mr Reed which is the name against my number, in last years BT directory. I have opted out of sales calls under the telephone preference scheme.
I said 'they no longer live at this address' but they were persistent and went on to ask if I was the housholder as it was me they wanted to speak to. Why? I never found out suspecting some kind of scam I hung up.
However it proves they are trawling BT telephone directories or directory CD Rom for numbers.
