fraudster want account info they are going to claim they are from HSBC bank

I got one too - immediately assumed it was not right as I believe there should be NO situation uinder which I disclose information to an unsolicited call.
Phoned HSBC and they confirmed there was a call from them to me to see if I wanted to buy pension or life insurance!
I told them in no uncertain terms it was not acceptable to ask clients for identification details - as we would then get used to answering these. I believe we all should simply stick to a simple rule - no information ever .

If they want to promote something then they can tell us it is a marketing call, make their pitch and refer us to call in via a published number - on their website, or on our account - and NOT 0845, 0871 or another money scam.

we can then maintain security and never be at risk we might disclose something which opens our bank account to a thief.
