The then told him he had to pay them for it which he did although thankfully he was able to cancel his card. Someone had to stop these people!!!!!!!!! My dad is 72 and finds it hard to understand that these people are scammers.
- anonymous replies to CoreyTHIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.
- GabrielleToday I had a problem with Hotmail. I contacted Microsoft and they followed through with a return call to me as promised, and were to follow up with a further call .An hour later a VERY aggressive man rang with a heavy accent, purporting to be from Microsoft...he was so rude I hung up. At 7-30 tonight (Saturday) a woman rang, again purporting to be from Microsoft.,
with some nonsense about my computer and its contents being wired through to Microsoft. When I asked their address, she gave me..166 Murray St. Perth.....(which is a Beauty Salon!)
I just find it very odd, that the one and only time I have ever been in contact with Microsoft....should be the very day these scammers contact me...and on a weekend.too
Does anyone have any thoughts on this.???
Thank-You. - GraemeHad the same call today. As soon as I said I will check them with Microsoft they hung up.

- BecciI receive this call every week three times a week. I got the man, Ryan, who called to tell me the phone number and he said they were based in Brisbane but calling from Perth. He advised my windows computer was not working, I asked him where he got the information from as he wanted to speak to my house mate and he read out my address and phone number. My house mate has a mac book and we are on the DNC register. I've asked them to stop calling multiple times. Time to take action.
