Got two calls from this number, and a call which just showed the last for digits, 9409, and one from 312-9409. Never left a VM.

The person at the other end identified himself as a computer tech with Dell Computers. He asked if I was having issues with my computer. I said no. He then said the internet lines that were coming into my home were wrong and it was showing that I had three unique connections. I asked him to email me what he thought was wrong as I was heading out for work. He said he couldn't do emails and that he needed to remote in to fix the problem. I told him to phone me later tonight As I had to go to work. I thought something wasn't right. So I googled dell scams and low and behold, it is a scam. Fortunately, I did not allow access, but these brazin [***] are getting more bold all the time. Be aware!

Indian tech support replies to Jim
Not for sure where you're located, but that number alone isn't right for North America. Unless you've had prior contact with ANY tech support that was initiated by you, no legitimate agent will call you at random. All this clown was doing was using a different approach in hopes of breaking into your computer. The number should've been enough to tell you the call was bad news. He might not have gotten into your computer, or personal or financial information from you, but getting an answer from your number is still a feather in his hat.

A person named sean martin called me asking if I was having a problem with my computer. I said no just slow. He said he is from Dell. He then walked me to my computer and showed me the files that are not suppose to be there. He said somebody is trying to get into my computer and we need tget rid of those files. Then later I got a call fromom 107

    Irritated
I receive calls from 9409 fairly often. I don't answer them any more, but I did a few weeks ago (because I thought it might be a client). It was a guy with an Indian accent who said he was from Dell. He said that Dell had found (gasp!) "five lines going into my computer".  Isn't that nice? When he asked me to open my Windows Event Viewer, I hung up on him, but these guys are remarkably persistent.

They seem to call in bursts, like several times in one day. I've tried cursing at them, telling them I know it's a scam, threatening them, hanging up on them, but nothing works. They still call me. So if you receive a call from "9409" and they're asking about your computer, forget it. It's a scam.

I received exactly the same song-and-dance from a caller at this number today.  I was immediately suspicious.  Sounds like a pervasive scam.  Beware.

I spent some time on the phone with them tonight trying to figure out their game.  Here's (at least one of) the scam(s):

They try get you to download and run GoToAssist on your computer.  They give you a URL with an identifier unique to them.  Bottom line, they are trying to get you to give them access to your computer.  If you do this, they have the ability to enter your computer without you being there.  They can copy files, delete files, add files, etc.

I wasted about 30 minutes of their time before I told them I didn't have a Dell with the hopes that they are deterred from calling back.

Same thing happened to me. Only I was more ignorant. Been having tons of problems with new computer for months. Sluggish. Crashing. I do have a Dell. So when u got a call from India I missed that it was a scam.
(I should have realized the caller ID that came up had no brackets or dashes I the phone number, 1074219409 instead of (107)421-9409)
They sent me to GoToAssist. They got into my computer. Now it's infected; as I tried to log into a secure site, I got warnings that my computer had been compromised.
I immediately shut it down and turned off the power strip. Called my bank
I bought into all the junk they were pedaling until they asked for $199.99. Then I knew what a trusting fool I had been. Now the clean up begins
I calleD Dell and spent 2 hours on the phone with people from the Phillipines and India and THEY WERE USELESS.

Just got a call saying Unavailable and the only numbers showing are 7-421-9409. Did not pick up- never do if I don't know the number. I see others have had a similar experience.

I am being harassed by someone at this phone number. I made the mistake of answering. I refused to give them information and now they are calling over and over again. 10+ times in 10 minutes.  I have asked them to stop calling and they won't.

Dell has been hacked.  These jerks have detail information and will spit it out to convince you they are Dell.  They had my service tag, serial number, configuration, detail from a tech support call and home address.   Not sure what else they have - hoping my Dell account is not one.  They keep calling from different numbers.
