They wanted to link with my computer and protect it from hackers that were degrading my hard drive.  They all sounded Jamaican, and said they were from Microsoft Operating Systems.  Scary!!

we also got this call, anyone know who to report this to?

I just received a second call from them.  I was neevr going to give them any info, but decided to play along and ask questions.  They aaid they were from "Windows" which was a 3rd party subcontractor of Microsoft.  I seriously doubt Miscrosoft would conduct business with a company using their registered trademark for their OS.  They eventually hung up.

I just got a call from these guys, and the lady sounded like she was from India. Said that she was with windows, that my computer was being hacked. That i should not connect to the internet......Little did she realize I do tech support for a living, I said if she was legit she would know what IP address my computer was connecting with. She said that she could see it, I was like great what IP address am I using.
We have to confirm who you are.....
I am like you called me? And then hung up.
I guess if I was not busy I would started grilling them some more and make her feel stupid...
It is a scam people if any reputable company calls you because of a problem, you already know about it, and likely called them first. That is the way corporate america works....
Unless you have paid for a some sort of proactive contract (and you would know that you are paying it) you would not get a call like this legitimately.

Also received a call from these people.

Just played along with them, giving them phoney info. and eventually they hung up.

Don't give them any valid information.

Long pause then, click, then a man said it was [name] from "Windows", and asked for the homeowner by name. When I said the home owner was not home, they wanted to know if I was the main user of the home computer....I hung up.

years  long  ongoing  scam...........


HOW ???   can  anyone  on this planet  NOT  know  this yet  ???
