I received a call from this number. I suspected it to be a telemarketer. I answered to request they take ma off their list. Stanley was on the other end. It was very loud on his end. He stated he had $7,000.00 in a US Government grant for me. He then started to ask for my credit crd information. I told him I would not give it to him. When I insisted on him telling me the name of his company, he got upset, told me he was calling from Washington DC for the government. He stated I was wasting his time. When I requested he remove my name from his list, he said he would call me every 5 minutes. I told him I was recording the call and he hung up.

Got a phone call from 123 456 7898 number this morning saying I qualified for a $7000 government grant.  He said his name was Edward Watson, sure sounded like Habib from the quickie mart to me.  He wouldn't give a call back number unless I told him all of my information.  He insisted for bank numbers and other personal info.  It seemed like he already knew a lot about me like my address and family situation and I don't know how he got it.  He put me on hold and I hung up on him and he called right back cussing the same word over and over at me.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, doggie, fabulous vacation, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, etc. They may send you a fake check, or may want your card info or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. Complain to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Got a call today from 1234567898 answered with my phone muted. Very loud background noise and some guy said "hello" 2 times then hung up. Sure wish there was a way to snag these scum bags and make them pay back all the money they have scammed, and also make them pay a large chunk of cash to every owner of every phone the dialed

I got several calls from this number claiming the same thing. Calling from the government and offering a grant. They actually did not request any bank or credit card info from me but after reading these blogs, I became concerned. I told my husband to handle it. Some guy calls back and my husband tells him to go ahead and send a check. (Of course we are going to turn it over to the authorities if received and hopefully it can be handled). I get yet ANOTHER call the very next day and my husband answered. This one was very rude. My husband told him someone had already contacted us. The guy got nasty and said "well do you want this money or not". My husband told him we had already said to send the check. lol We will see if a check actually comes and then maybe they can be caught.

I receuved a phone call today from a guy who sounded foreign. He asked for me by my first name only. I asked who was calling and he gave me his first name and immediately started his sales pitch that I had been accepted to receive $7,000.00 dollars from the Government! Sounds good but come on........the government is NOT giving away that kind of money!! I told the guy to take me off his calling list and he hung up on me.

Whatever info you gave them is in criminals' hand and you have to do damage control now. Contact your bank or card issuer, kill account(s) and get the money charged back. You have to replace all accounts you gave them info on. Never Western Union money to people you don't personally know. Google for info on how to deal with identity theft.
