they called asking for my DOB over the phone saying it was an urgent personal business matter. They were very pushy and would not give me any information about the nature of their business. The only information they would give me is that their company is called Transpacific. The man's name is Paul Harris and the number is 1800 213 738. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!

they rang me and said they were from transpacific and wanted to speak to my husband,, i told him he wasnt there and he gave me a numberfor him to ring them on 1800213738 with an extension  190025.i said couldnt understand him and asked the nature of business.he wouldnt tell me and i told him if he didnt tell me my husband wouldnt ring back. he said it was urgent and kept asking me to give my husband the number and to make sure he called them back

Had a call on my mobile, demanding to speak to my wife. I asked who they were and he said "trans-pacific" then how they got my number and they said she put it on the application form(since discovered this is crap, i suspect they googled my name and tried pot luck)
When i said whatever they wanted it has nothing to do with me, as my wife and i dont talk about money as we are separated.Called himself Damian Michael( sure thing Sanjiv) and his boss is called Allan Williams( more lies)asked to move the call to another phone, i think this was so he could really nasty and not be recorded.He said it was regarding a Coles Source Mastercard debt, which he apparently could not disclose as the matter was not in regards to me. When i asked why there had been no known contact with that company for over 2 years, he said it was because they are so professional they do things properly.
He then said" oh i see what you are doing' i said oh yeah whats that? he replied, "if your name is still on her marriage contract we will take your property" when i asked if he was threatening me he comfortably said "yes". I said a number oftimes "this has nothing to do with me"
He then said " what about your children, how many do you have and how old are they?" at this point i was totally gobsmacked.i then asked are you threatening my children now, and he said "yes", he said we will find where they go to school and you will be sorry" I asked to repeat it threetimes, and then told him thank you for saying that, i have recorded this call and i am taking the recording to the NSW police in the morning. He clearly [***] himself at this point and screamed i had no authority to record his call.And then said thank you sir, good bye sir, have a nice day sir. F@#$%ing unbelievable.
Trans Pacific, or Repcol, or whoever they are should be exposed on national TV, i am stunned, as was the police i reported it to, and so was the Coles Source Mastercard people. I also called Repcol and told them Trans pacific was using their name to threaten Australian citizens childen , all were sympathetic but this is total [***] and must be stopped( Nuke em ?)

I've received three of these calls so far, but they have left messages all three times.  

I'm looking to get to the bottom of this, so I wrote a letter to Today Tonight to see if they will take up the investigation, as I think a lot of people will get scammed by this.

The message sounds like an international call, probably Indian, re-routed through a temporary 1800 number here is Aus.

Anyway, I'd be interested in the recording you have, that's if you're willing to pass them on.

By the way, have you taken them to the cops yet?

I received a call from this same company asking the same question, i kept hanging up on them and they kept calling back and trying to confirm DOB which i wouldnt give them so they then made one up and asked me to confirm if that was my DOB which it wasnt and neither was the suburb they wanted me to confirm. They refused to tell me anything about why they were calling

who helps a debotr to improve the credit report . talk to them which will benefit you in the future.

i REALLY HOPE some authority would investigate on this matter and these ppl...
i think they prey on ppl who are not gd at keeping record of their finances and paperwork.. My husband was issued a letter stating a full amt of debt dated back to 2002!!
And he believed he had paid off what's owed.. however i know he can be careless and remembered otherwise, so he naively contacted transpacific (yes bunch of indians :peter.williams ,Portfolio manager and christopher andrews , customer service consultant) who hardly understood or speak proper english.
And agreed to paid off the amt in cash within the next 2 days (so can get bloody 'discount')!!!
The 1st indian kept going on about giving bloody discount when all we wanted is to find out what the amount was used for and whats the breakdown, etc. But they cannot provide us any breakdown at all.. just a bloody lump sum .. All they did was email us a letter with the actualy amt owed and the discounted amt to be paid by when..
There was no deadline to pay the amt in the initial letter that came in the post, isnt that strange?? And though they have an office in australia but there's no contact number but just a PO BOX.. and it was not listed in the white pages as well..
I duno.. it's too late now even if its a scam, he got my husband's $$$.. And we got into very bad arguments because of that.
Just hope someone would look into it and update everyone.

Had similiar experience and have been getting these calls for 6 months for a guy who has the same name as me lives in the same suburb (they gave me his address and different date of birth.

Been getting calls in Australia from "Alan" and now "Kevin" from Transpacific for a while now. I suppose its the same in the US. It's an obvious scam. At first I really had a go at them. Abused them from here to kingdom come. Now I just hang up. They usually call again immediately and then I leave the phone off the hook. Its always the same patter if you want to listen - asking for DOB and that they want to settle a matter in your interest or whatever. These guys are evil and persistent scammers and you have every right to treat them with the contempt they deserve. Don't let them get into your head. These people are scum. Just hang up and then give the details to every single regulatory authority you can think of. Even the Indian Trade Commission? But remember, do NOT give the scammers even the time of day.

I'm glad I found this site. I have a mobile registered in my name in the whitepages but my partner uses it and always has done. I've never used that number or given it to anyone as "mine".

Therefore, the only way that they could associate that number with me is to use whitepages.com.au or to hack the phone company's billing system.

As others have reported, a chap with an Indian accent, calling himself "Steve Dawson" asking for me to call back on 1800 213 738. My partner keeps refusing to give my actual mobile number (thankfully) saying it's a "personal matter" that needs to be discussed with me directly, and so on. But they've called about 5 times in 3 days.

How the hell do I stop them???

Please be aware that if you receive a call from anyone claiming to be from Trans Pacific...then under no circumstances give them any information! They are a complete scam!

I have received several calls from these con artists wishing to speak to my partner, then demanding that I give them my partner's telephone number. Of course, I refused and they became quite aggressive. Now, if they call, asking for my partner, I simply say, "Hold on while I just go and get him." I then put the phone into a drawer or cupboard for a while and leave them hanging-on...after all, they're paying for the call!!

Don't even attempt to have a conversation with them or argue as they can be pretty nasty. Any information you get such as name or reason for them calling will probably be false anyway.

I have received 2 calls in 2 days from these pests. One I answered they said they were after someone who happened to have the same name as my mother. It was apparently an urgent business matter from 2 years ago that they had to discuss urgently. I asked them for details they would only give a postcode that is not relevant to my mum. He then went on to ask for her DOB I said you tell me what you have and then I will tell you if it is correct. He then said he was "calculating my mum's age" which was 30 oh no 40. I said no, this is incorrect do not call me again. I have arrived home to hear a message with the same rubbish. I am going to report them to the do not call register. Hopefully that may help?!

Call came in today at 20 past 2 in the afternoon, asked if they were actually allowed to call at this time? 'Brad' went straight into his spiel with one change from two days ago, the amount owing had gone from $4k+ to $8k
Currently unemployed due to work place injury, they are calling back in 30Mins, this makes a total of 5 phone calls this month, Brad talked over the top of me so I yelled at him and he proceeded to yell back at me (very unprofessional)I hung up and he rang back three times in a row, now from my limited understanding of legalities this constitutes harrassment, but I could be wrong. They also wanted boyfriends full name when he took over the call ( nerves have got me shaking and vomiting now).

The call back is to make arrangements to make payments, now while this is in dispute I understand that I should not commit to any payment --- they want $300 per month.

Unfortunatly they are legally allowed to ring three times in the day :( I just rang my sister who works for Dunn & Bradstreet, she advises to keep it in mind that these calls are all about 'BLUFF'.

I wouldn't mind the phone call if it was a problem of my own creation, but this has occured from GE's Insurance end by stopping payments over a year ago ( I was not aware of this at anytime, and was under the impression the payments were still being received.

How the whole problem originated was from GE processing the claim under unemployment (much cheaper for the insurer) instead of as a disability claim which is what it should have been, anyhow during trying to clean up the mess they made at GE the debt got sold off.....still trying to figure out how you sell of a debt when it's in the middle of a claim review process?

I reported to police throught Police Assitant line 131444 and they transfer me to local Station and talk about this matter.

I've been receiving calls from them for several months, so I reported them to ACMA, who got back to me and said they can't do anything but I could complain to ASIC or to my phone company. I said that the phone calls came in as "Anonymous" on my mobile phone.  ACMA said to record the date & time of each call and the phone company can trace them and send them a cease & desist letter.  If they fail to stop calling, the phone company can contact the police or change your phone number and make it a "silent" number (i.e. not list it in the phone book and not let it give calling identification).  For more information see http://www.law.unsw.edu.au/centres/klc/doc/Unwelcome_Phone_Calls.pdf.
ACMA said they were a debt collection agency.  So I called them back and gave them my DOB about a month ago, and they said I wasn't the guy they wanted.  So I expected the calls to stop. But they kept on calling, a couple of times a day every other day.  Now I just say to them "I'm not interested, Do NOT call back" and hang up on them. And record the time & date And name of the caller for future police investigation if it comes to that.
Most of the callers have heavy Indian accents, but the guy who called today had a USA accent.

Thank-you everyone for your post in this forum. Does anyone know where these people are actually calling from (OS.... or is it actually somewhere in Australia?) I am totally sick of this.... my wife is continually called from a rude and arrogant young man (by the name of Shaun Young as if...more like.... i won't say). I am a busy family man who works long hours with several young children. i am dissapointed that this can still happen in our society. These people need to be stopped.
