Did not answer. No message left. - Riata replies to JimmyCan we PLEASE get the NSA to track these guys instead of Grandmothers, assorted teenagers, or ME?? I would be delighted to pay a "stalk the telemarketers" tax every year!
- GuitarThis board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive. There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers. In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC. If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it. Do it today and pass along the info:

- Melvin in Memphis'Member Rewards' said the ID. I didn't answer but did a quick pickup and hangup after the 2nd ring which mimics call blocking. I'm already waiting for their next new ID. My personal favorite has been when the ID read 'WINNER!!' a couple of months ago.
- rox| 1 replyThis robo caller had such cheerful voice that I was so tempted to buy a home security system with free life alert. (lol). Press 2 to be removed (never ever do that).
"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it). And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often. Another comment from this web site says: When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one. Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all. Another comment was: They sold your known active number to another scammer!!! That is what they do when you call them back to opt out. SO DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED!
Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession. So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone. I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers more to copy and paste to)
NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml) who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective.. DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.
So, just block them, DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls. If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back. No problem. It’s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller, but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional. Another smart person on this web site said to save it to your contacts as spam 1, then spam 2, etc. so you can just ignore the call.
ITS OUR LIFE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533
The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and what they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)
Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.
So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually know the person calling.- Caller: bayonne nj
- Old Grouch replies to roxIf these telejerks called sequential numbers, and made a million calls per day, you wouldn't get called two or three times a week (in some cases per day). They work off a list.
As for DNC, "Rachael" or whatever was finally put out of business. The Feds only act after a bunch of complaints. So complain. - BenI GET A RECORDED MESSAGE SAYING THAT THIS IS NOT A SALES CALL. "YEAH RIGHT".
- D Rose replies to hgot 2 this morning- 12/16/13 - As soon as I answered, they hung up. And I am on the DO NOT CALL list.
- The PatriotCalled 12:36 pm. ID showed "Member Rewards". 201-243-3390. DIdn't answer.
- Caller: Member Rewards
- Linda MTHIS IS UNITED AIRLINES MILEAGE REWARDS. I PROMISE! (SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS, BUT I THINK IT WOULD BE USEFUL FOR PEOPLE TO HAVE THIS INFORMATION. I had to work with them on using mileage on a recent trip, and this number is the one I used. It may also be a survey that rang me up after I worked it out, I don't remember. But it is a legitimate call. On another subject discussed on the previous pages, regarding what to do about all these nuisance calls, I have a great program that really helps, and I love it. A friend swore by it and so I tried it. It's called PHONE TRAY PRO. It's inexpensive, easy to set up and TERRIFIC! ! I never have to do a thing except click on a bad number (which I determine by coming here to look it up, and then I block the call. I even get a choice of what I want the scammer/spammer to hear...like, a fast-busy, out of order signal, which is the one I have programmed in, .but there are probably a dozen+ other choices including a one complete with the 3 tones that precedes the real/legitimate message that : "You have reached a number that is not in working order; Please make sure you have the right number and have dialed it correctly." There are other phone-block programs available as well, and I'm sure they may be good too, but this is the one my friend recommended and even though I researched others before I got this one, this is the one that looked best, so I probably would have gotten it anyway. I have not been disappointed. (And no, I'm not with the company! :)
