The newest illegitimate, scam caller who has surfaced. Started a few days ago, now consistent caller, no message, no ID to accompany the number. In general a giveaway to a con artist in operation. Legit calls leave messages, are identifiable, not this crap that is criminal in intent. Search of number comes up as Telcove Investments. Who calls late afternoon on a weekend?

Go this number on my caller id. Left No message. Nobody I know.

This number called us and left a message saying "Hello?...Is Alex there?..."

Got the call last night.  Caller said he was some kind of police association.  But he asked for me by name, so they are calling from some kind of calling list.

Can't be legit though, because the CallerID just said "I", and the number is fake.

Caller was permanently blocked before he could leave a message using CallClerk software and a cheap USB modem.

Got the same call. I just blocked his number.

Just got a call this number today. Looking for my wife but this number only showing I caller id. When i asked him who are you? He said no body and goodbye.. this is scam number 201-283-9685

got a 2nd call from this number: 201-283-9685 asking for 'Carol'....

The DNC registry list is a joke. I'm on it and get scam calls of all types almost every day. Your wasting your time registering.

Third time I got this number would not block it, did say Washington DC, this time. Good luck on filing a complaint, the DNCL is not working since the shut down in the fall, not enough money to fund it. So keep blocking.

We got a all from this number today at 2:20 pm, and it was blocked by our call blocker. The caller ID was the letter I, which may stand for the Fundraising Information Center. Particularly annoying is that our number is non published. They have also called from 201-283-4648 and 412-430-5550. Because of numerous such calls we have blocked both area codes on our call blocker.

We got a call again today, three days later, from this number at 12:18 pm. It was of course blocked by our call blocker. I highly recommend getting such a device. Charities are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry, but if this were a legitimate charity the caller ID should be something other than the letter I.

New one for me. CID was letter I. Has to be another scam. Won't answer a call for a CID or phone # I don't recognize.

Don't answer any call that you don't know who is calling . Once answered you are a live number . They generate lists of live numbers to be recalled at a future date . This is all metta tracking done by a computer program , that never , eats , sleeps or takes a break . Numbers dialed daily 20 to 30 thousand . Block em and the computer just adds you to the next list . ( it will buy you some time )  This is all predicated on their hit ratio . They are having success because sometimes you are spoofed into answering . They know every trick in the book and program the robo dialer that way . The phone company and the people who used to care about your privacy , they get paid for every call the robot dials . Why would they want the marketers to stop calling ? The only time they stop those numbers is when the marketers move on or and fail to pay their phone bill . Funny , they just sign up with one of the hundreds of small independent carriers who are desperate to grow , and just want to be able to collect revenue from the marketers . Vicious cycle , but hey it is a job for someone . Good legit marketers are feeling the pinch as they have to call you at some point because you asked them to . When they call , if their number is blocked or it is a cell number , you don't answer , and there you go , you missed a call you solicited. Phone blockers are pretty good , but the computer dialing does not give up . They just program in more numbers . They know better than the rest of us that the " Do Not Call List "  is a joke .  The new way to live is to learn how to cope with this crap , don't let it upset you , you are dealing with bullys  and you have to laugh it off when they catch you picking up a spoofed call , so  laugh hang up and hit the button on your call blocker .  You and me are not going to put them out of business , who knows maybe you daughter or son is coming out of college with no job prospect and they will work for these people . I laugh when I think about all those Chinese cell phones going off with robo calls . Yes you telemarketers  , scam artist , and trolls , China is your growth market  ,  uhh u no speak Chinese ? No problem , you hang up on most people any way .  I would also like you to know that the scammers come and read and post on sites like this all the time . If gives them hope that they are reaching a targeted market . So some of this stuff you read is well , them .    If u need more ideas  call me I'm in the DNCL .   Bye now and have a nice day .

Caller said he is "James Jones": It is the Fundraising Information Center. Told him to NEVER call this number. I have already filed a complaint with Do Not Call registry

Two phone calls in 3 days. I won't answer so you're wasting your time.

They call every day and have been told to stop harassing us. Now they call and ask for my wife - how about a pool/bounty for these type of jerks???

Whoever takes them out gets to keep all the cash and does everyone a favor.

They now are trying to solicit funds for police killed on duty.

What happened to their retirement fund and stolen or seized property that is sold at auction?

Unfortunately, the compensation received by the family of a slain officer is nowhere near the price of  giving the "ultimate sacrifice".
   The scum callers are trying to play on emotions of those called.  I would almost a year's pay that not one dime goes to anyone's family.  
  As far as auction proceeds go, unless the govt leaders are VERY benevolent, that money goes back into the bank for someone's operating expenses.  

My best advice is not to answer.  Talking to them won't get you any information as they are scared stiff  that one day the real cops are going to roll up and nab them.   (I'd love to be there).   Seriously though, they can't be too smart.   Messing with cops is like kicking a dog that's at the end of his chain... someday the chain is going to break.

This area code and exchange are from the Kearny NJ 07032 area.  If you have blocking software, as I have, you can block an area code-exchange combo with ??? wildcards.  Here is a link to a site that lets you lookup both area code and exchange. I do not know anyone that I associate with that has this area code exchange. Therefore, I am blocking all calls from it.
