called then hung up when phone was answered

The guy called asking for "Dennis". I said Dennis isn't here. He then asked for "the man or lady of the house" or something like that. That was really strange, considering this is a business number. So I stated clearly that IF he was calling for a valid purpose, then he'd know the NAME of the person he wanted. Bizarrely, he immediately asked for Dennis again. So I just hung up.

Caller ID from 201-283-9757 says CHARITY. He asked for Annie, then the man of the house. I thought they were putting a stop to all these calls???

Caller ID says "Kearny    NJ". Rang 3 times, then hung up before answering machine picked up. Blocked.

Missed call from this group.  No message left.  Called the number back and it is says it was from a "fundraising benefit group".  They were calling on behalf of one of several charity organizations.  

No way to automatically remove your number from their list.  It asks you to enter in your phone number and then one of their representatives would call you back.  Whatever ........

Two different numbers Have been calling us. CID says "CHARITY". No message left. Numbers are 201-283-9757 and 201-283-0648. "Charity" begins at home. New Jersey isn't Mass. Drop dead scammer.

Again phone reverse system that makes the annoying robocalls, So this time caller id says Kearny NJ, Really It's a Charity, How about a SCAM Oportunity to make believe is a Charity from Nowhere, Is the lady of the house......, hahahaha, Is the man of the house........, hahahaha such a [***] questions.

no answer when answered. don't pick and report them as possible criminal organization. lock your doors they not Santa.

Did you know you can sue telemarketers 500$ per call?

That's right, under the provision (47 CFR 64.1200 (e)(2)(iii)) which is a provision within the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA)

This is how it works, when a telemarketer calls you:
Report the number to whycall.me (good for reporting all annoying calls), including the name of the agent that called
Ask the agent to be put on the Do Not Call list (this different from DNC, this list is managed by the company)
Take down the name of the agent who called and request the postal address of the company
Send a certified letter (with a return receipt) demanding to be placed on the company's do not call list (keep a copy along with the return receipt, which you may need to use as proof
Wait 30 days (refer to your original complaint on whycall.me if you forget the date and name of the rep)
Now each time the telemarketer calls you can get $500 by suing them in small claims court (which is pretty easy to do)
Keep in mind that you cannot sue them if you have dealings with the company (existing relationship) or if it's a political organization or charity.
If you think it's a rare occasion for a company to get fined, think again, just look at the list of companies fined for junk faxing (http://transition.fcc.gov/eb/tcd/ufax.html) keep in mind that junk faxing has gone down significantly so instances of telemarketers calling you is much bigger.

CID identified as "I". Call from NJ  Blocked

voice messge recorded person asking for Donna - when no response they hung up ...  CID says "I"

This "organization" has called me for months while my husband and I were unemployed.  Very frustrating to be annoyed like this during such a difficult time.  Please put an end to these unscrupulous calls!!!!

Junk call.  Asked for someone who clearly didn't live here.

I just got a call from 201-283-9757. It's just one of many recent  junk calls I have received. I almost never use my home phone for anything but faxing or making an occasional call. I have caller id, so I see the # on my TV screen. If I recognize the # I'll pick up, if not, my fax (that I installed 3 weeks ago) will pick up on the 6th ring. Already the calls are much less frequent.

They have called multiple times today each time its the same man but he says he is with a different charity each time.  I asked him not to call back, but now he calls more frequently (3 times today).  The caller ID says "I".

I just received it with the designator I - well it should say that "I" blow anyone but guess he could not fit tht on the phone.  

Called my answering machine while I was driving home from work(8:23a.m.EST). Ask for me personally and then said "are you here are you here?"hello." Again,just like many others, the callerID read an "I" and that was it. I guess the color didn't know he was talking to a machine dumb thing.

Called at 8:00 on a Saturday. Didn't answer. No message. Thought there was a law about when they can call. Getting tired of these calls on Weekends. Only identity was "I".
