It comes up ASTA Funding, but the message they leave says Palasade Collection.  They don't leave a person''s name that they want, just a reference number.  I know we don't owe ANYONE, so why are you calling ME!

I used to receive the same call from 623-239-1367 until a few days ago, wanting to collect a debt.  It must have been going on daily for the last 6 months with the same message.  After a few days of not hearing from the 623 number, I am now getting the identical call from the 201 area code.  I owe nothing and would like to know what I can do to stop these harassing phone calls!!!  The end of the message gives a name which isn't mine.

They call me every now and then, but I have NEVER answered their call, as stated in another complaint about this number, it was identified on the Caller ID as:  "Asta Funding."  Yes, COMPLAIN to your phone company and the agency in your location that governs telephone, also FCC.gov on the web.

Straight from the FBI Web Page:
New Variation on Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

02/21/12—The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, “Federal Legislative Department,” various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim’s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it’s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business’ computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim’s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim’s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If they know about it why don't the stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asta Funding, Palisades, local office, etc, etc these people think they are going to outsmart you.
They call from different numbers spoof numbers so they come up with all different names including people's names even had my own number come up on my ID when they called. The only way they will ever get me is if they have the sheriff bring papers to my door. Don't ever call them back or answer when they call. They can try all the tricks they can think of but they will never talk to me on the phone trust me. What I do a lot is forward numbers they call from to a number that I know has been disconnected. Keep trying dumb [***]

The Pallides Debt Collection/Asta Fundng calls began this week on my work line. They came in both as 800#s and the 201#.

    Here is a SOLUTION!

Google "Asta Funding" - it pulls up a company address and phone # of 201-567-5648.  This is the number to call and you can select various corporate prompts.  It will say that this is "not customer service" and to call an 800# for debt collection which is automated and you get nowhere. IGNORE and begin leaving messages.

There is a prompt that says something about Outside Divsions.  I left a message on that line and they called me immediately and had my # removed. It might have been prompt #5 or #6.

Or you can call and select 0 for operator - ask for Mary Curtan. She was also able to remove my work #.

I work at a large company, and so mentioned we would have to elevate the issue/seek legal assistance if the calls continued. They complied immediately.

I hope that this infomation can help someone. Let us know here if you have any success.
