SO RUDE!  He called ... I answered ... He hung up without saying anything.  Called back seconds later ... I answered ... He asked for a co-worker that I out of town (which I informed him of) and he immediately hung up (AGAIN!) without saying anything.  He'll be blocked from calling again!

This guy has called several times.  Yesterday on my voicemail he didn't realize the mic was open from one of the many calls his robocall system made.  He identified himself as George.  It's hard to tell from his accent but the last name sounded like "Farsquaad".  He also said he was from "SumoLogic", although I'm sure they are just a call center doing work for SumoLogic among other clients.  I heard him talking to some poor sap who answered one of his calls where he was pushing to talk to a specific person even asking when they would be back for him to call again.

This one pretended to be from VM-Ware, wanting to talk about their product.  I told them another Department takes of this type of thing, and we only take care of writing software.  She was pretty insistent, going from talking about vm-ware for servers.  I gave her the website for the other Department, but she didn't write it down that I could tell, and launched into talking about vm-ware for desktops, to which I also said I don't take care of that.  Her lead-in phrase was 'since you are responsible for ___', blah blah blah in a rushed voice and asking if she can email me information.  When I told her I don't take care of desktops, just writing software, she hung up.  What a cow.  I think it might have been a scam, trying to get me to click on something in an email she'd send, and then it would encrypt everything I have access to in our network.  God I hate these criminals and/or salespeople.

    caller id:  Unavailable 201 399 8999.
After glancing at the caller ID, I figured it might be a telemarketing call because most legitimate companies and business people have a caller id that states their name...most, though not all.

So when I picked up the handset I did not say anything, instead I listened intently for the background sounds; usually telemarketers are working in a large room and the murmur of several people reading scripts is distinctly recognizable.  Well!  I knew right away the caller was in a boiler room overseas because when he cursed I did not understand what he said.  He disconnected the call.

I am starting to like the tactic of picking up the phone but not saying anything.  If the call is legitimate, when met by silence rather than a greeting, the caller will usually say, "Hello?" ...."Hello?"   And then I can pop on the line, offering my regrets for the delayed response.
