I received a text on my cell from this number asking if I wanted to test a new iPad3 for Apple and keep the iPad.  A likely story I'm sure...  no chance that I'll get a virus from the website they want me to visit or have y identity stolen by providing information on it, right?

Complete scam.  Young girl's recorded voice, full of shy hesitancy.  "H-hello, this is Amanda.  How are you today?"  The recording pauses as if a real person were waiting for an answer.

Here's the trick.  If you say nothing, the call shuts off.  If you answer, the robocall continues. You will then be handed over to a skilled scammer, who, no matter what the person offers you ("for free"), is only after one thing:  Your credit card or  social security number.  It's an identity-theft racket, run by professionals, often foreign, hence the thick accents.  Don't go for it.
