- angelhelp| 1 replyThis number was on my caller id 3 times today alone. Whoever it is refuses to leave a message. The calls have become more frequent over the past week.
- DontCallMe replies to angelhelp201-535-3618: Just spoke with the caller, it was a fundraiser for the MFA in Boston.
- CTDB| 1 replyIf they're from Boston, why is it a New Jersey number?
- Desert-Dweller replies to CTDBAsked for me by name but would not leave a message. My phone service asks the caller to identify themselves first before putting them through. They would not identify themselves, just said "this is for (my name)" but when it went into my voice mail, they did not leave a message. Came up are 201 area code - that is NJ...
- annoyedThree calls from this number within 15 minutes. No message.
- LynnseyThey have been calling every evening around 7:00 for more than a week.
- SonOfItalyIt's bogus. The caller ID says 201 area code, but be aware when it also says "out of area". There are a few tricks to get them to stop. As soon as you pick up the phone, push the * (star) button repeatedly so it sounds like a busy signal. Wait till they hang up. Or.. Just answer the phone in a high pitched Italian old grandmother voice and repeatedly say, "Whose-a-dis? "" What's a dis?" or "Shut ap a ya face." Then say some intelligible Italian things (if your not Italian) (If you are, then you can wing off a few good ones) Do this for fun. It tends to let me get off some steam and have a laugh.
- Caller: out of area
- SonOfItaly| 1 replyIf they are posing as a charity, Again in my Italian high pitched accent, I tell them I am locked in my house and am not having a good day at all and would they be so kind as to deliver me a pizza because I haven't eaten in days. Would they be so charitable to do that for me? Please? Also, since I haven't been able to get out of my house for days, I have no $$, so if they could get to the bank or lend me the money for the pizza I would appreciate it. Of course, if the call even gets that far, I would pretend I can't find the address to my house since I'm locked inside and can't see or remember my house number or address.
I do this to let off steam and have a chuckle on their dime.
Arrivederci!- Caller: out of area
- fed-upReceive repeated calls from 1-201-535-3618 for several months. If I answer, all I hear is music or they hang up after listening to our answering machine (we also have other nuisance calls).
Our number is registered on the Federal Do Not Call List and we do re- register every 5 years or so.
Neither the special service to block nuisance calls and the phone service program that asks unknown caller to Identify themselves before being sent though to our line are fool proof. And have heard that a new private unlisted phone number can also be tapped into ? All these services add more cost to having a land phone, I'm about ready to cancel my land phone service.
Between added services, caller ID and numerous add on taxes, it's just not worth having a land phone.
Maybe it's time to send relay smoke signals ! - fox6th call in a week. Always calls in evening between 6:30-7:00 cst. Our announcement indicates they have contacted a Nationasl No Call phone number. When that message announces, the caller disconnects.
- When is enough enough?I'm on the No Call List too, and I'm getting more unwanted calls now than before I signed up. Isn't there any reliable way to stop this cr*p?
- KUBITONSEVERAL TIMES A DAY. I NEVER ANSWER CALLS WITH CALLER ID THAT DOESN'T IDENTIFY THE CALLER
- KUBITONCALLS DAILY.
- StephI'd be willing to bet money this is another outfit related to StoresOnline. They are probably autodialing which is why they don't always answer. I like the housebound grandma suggestion, I might go with that next time they call.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- LAWhat happened to the Do Not Call list? This is a pain.
- what the heck?| 4 repliescid reads 'out of area 201' Thats it, no name no other numbers except 201. 4-5 times a day
- Caller: out of area 201
- whitelion replies to what the heck?| 3 repliesthis is the same for us... 4 or 5 times a day... and that guarantees we will never do any sort of business with whoever it is.... being a nuisance generates it's own results.. if there is a way to figure out who this pls share it...
- MattyBGoodThis nuisance number first appeared in early January and now its up to two calls a day. It seems like the bad guys have figured a way around the call-blocking feature offered through our digital phone service from Time Warner which works very well with ordinary numbers. They are probably using some VOIP service that allows fake programing of caller IDs. And since it is not a genuine number, I cannot block it with the normal call blocking feature. I checked the last five in-bound calls that came into my number but it shows up as unavailable. I never answer these types of calls. Its just that its one less nuisance that I can do without.
- Caller: Our of Area 201
- MattyBGood replies to whitelionI figured a way to stop it. I searched the web and found a call blocking device (about the size of a caller ID box) from a company called Digitone Communcations. You simply plug it into your wall phone jack and then plug your phone into the device. By default it blocks OPX calls, which are Anonymous, Out of Area, Private, Unknown, or "X" calls that do not have a minimum 7 digit number displayed. I just installed it over the weekend and it already blocked the "Out of Area 201" number so that it did not ring on any of my phones. It works with traditional phones and with digital phone service offered by cable companies. You need caller ID service for the device to work. It costs about $100.00 (not too bad a price to pay for privacy) and it has a lot of other features including After Hours Mode, that you can program into the device just by using your phone to enter some simple codes. Hope this helps.
