Just received this call @ 3:15 PM. Did not recognize, did not answer. Obviously, a prank call.

Also got this call at 4 pm, did not answer, no message

Received at 8:49 PM.  No one there.

got  a call from 800-981-2591 at 8:12 am then imeadiately a call from 201-537-5973.  Won't leave message.

Received a call from 201 537-5973 at 7:20 PM.  It seems that intrusive calls are going up, rather than down.  No wonder the US government cannot manage resources -- they certainly cannot control their 'DO NOT CALL LISTS'!  Beginning to wonder if they can do anything in a competent fashion!

The government does not "control" anything through the Do Not Call Registry: It is simply a list of people who do not wish to receive telemarketing calls. Legitimate businesses honor this list. But... It might surprise you to learn that our society contains certain people we call "criminals". These people do things like snatching purses, picking pockets and robbing banks. Expecting telespammers to honor the Do Not Call Registry is like expecting bank robbers to stop robbing banks because it's against the law. It's naive.

You may also be shocked to learn that the government devotes more resources to catching car thieves and bank robbers than to stopping small-time con artists from phoning you and me. Go figure.

Have received several calls from this number.  Caller ID shows Weehawken, NJ.  Reverse lookup indicates that the number is in Union City, NJ.  Leaves no message.

Yeah I got a call at like 8am on a Saturday morning! Woke up right out of bed! Who in the world is this idiot?!

Just called. Left no message. Most likely another in a long list of telemarketers. And we, too, are on the DO NOT CALL list!!!

these people routinely call my office phone (Averett University) every morning; usually around 0830 AM

I believe the caller is soliciting donations for the Republican party. As such, calls such as this are not subject to the "Do Not Call" registry provisions. Politicians, as you probably all know by now, are not subject to the same sort of rules and regulations that the rest of us are.

I just received a call from that number....Dem's call...Charities are also allowed to call until they're told to stop calling..I get calls from Debt Collectors who think I am someone else and don't believe me when I tell them I just bought this place and a new phone number which belonged to the prior owners..I will be getting a new number very soon..lunacy at its best..

Some guy just called from this # and asked for my husband by name.  He was very rude and wouldn't tell me his name, nor would he leave a message.  I believe we won't be answering calls from this # anymore.

I received a call from this number too. Several times. I have caller ID. If I don't recognize the number I do not answer. The majority of numbers dialed to my land line are these kind of calls, political or charity. Because of this I came to this site to see if I could get more info. I had to laugh when a couple of people here blamed first the republican party and then the democratic party for the calls. Come on!!! Quit blaming the political parties on everything!  Anyway, I have been thinking of getting rid of my land line, but then I am afraid they will just find my cell phone number and start calling me there. This is definitely a form of harrassment. Thank goodness for caller ID.

I received a call from this number at 10:55 AM but the answering machine only recorded several seconds of silence. Obviously it is a professional annoyer AKA scammer.

Got a call from this number at 9:20 A.M.  Did not answer.  Obviously it's a solicitor.

They call once a day,I never answer. Am blocking it now. Says from Weehawken,NJ.

I believe you are correct...they will find your cell phone number and they are probably scams.  Depending on your plan, you may have to pay for those calls if you pick-up.  I have these type calls coming to my cell and my home phone.  Last night around 8:00 got a call from 201-537-5973.  This morning got a call from 201-537-5943.   I believe they are connected.  I cannot say who they are because all the showed on my phone was the number and I did not pick up either one.  If the call was important, they would have left a message.  I do check 800 notes to see, just in case.  I keep a spreadsheet of these "bad" callers and it is very long. I love this site!
