They called me today at 12:45pm asking to speak to Ricky, then asked to verify my Social Security number. I told him I did not give out that information and hung u om him.  He had a very heavy accent, possibly India, and was hard to understand.  I hung up on him before he could tell me why he was calling, but by asking to verify my Social Security number it must have been some type of scam.  I'm also on the "do not call" list but got the call anyway.

I received a call---did not leave a message and I have not returned a call.

Called my home and caller ID only said "Leonia NJ" which let me know it was a bogus call.  Otherwise an owner's name or "Unknown" would have shown.  With my telephone system it means the call was made through a computer (could be Telespoof, Skype, etc).  Because the call came from or through a computer I am told it is considered by the US federal government to be Data and not Voice so they are not regulated by the Do Not Call list.
The only options to stop such calls is to either block the callers or have my telephone number listed as Disconnected for a few weeks.

They call and don't leave a voicemail either. The women I spoke with are rude and don't let you speak. They claim to be debt collectors and claim you owe money. I have no debt at all! I asked for them to verify my information but they refused stating it was due to security purposes. But supposedly it's my information! They kept asking for my social which was weird. I finally asked for them to stop calling and hung up.

People, be careful! They seem to be scheming.

Never EVER, EVER, provide full social security over the phone. You have that RIGHT. No matter what state you live in, in the United States you do NOT have to provide your full social over the phone. Especially do not provide your social to callers who CALL YOU from unidentified numbers.

If it is a legitimate debt collector, they will have your information on file. Also, legitimate debt collectors will leave a message and HAVE appropriate caller ID's.

By law, after first initial contact with ANY debt collector, they must mail you a validation of debt (VOD) letter verifying the amount, who they are, who the debt is from, and the account number with their information as well as your mailing  address.

Please folks record and document the calls. Depending on the state you live in, you must state that you are recording the calls. There isnt a LAWYER in America, honesty just go through the phone book and pick ANYONE, that wouldnt want to represent you for FREE. YES FREE, if these so call or any debt collector is violating Do not Call laws or FDCPA laws (google for more information).

If you feel that boundaries have been crossed, please contact a lawyer and state your claim. I promise you, it will be rewarding for you! $$$$

Call me at work. No one on phone, just silence. I wrote down number and hung up. Will not waste my time answering them again.

I called this number back because they call everyday. The female, with a heavy accent, wanted to know my name and number. I said you called me so what is the name of your company and what are you calling me for. She said she works for many companies. Again, I asked why did she call me, and she said she wanted my name and phone number! I am so sick of these calls. The no-call list does absolutely nothing! I have never received so many calls like this until this last 6 months. I am old and I don't understand why I am now getting these unidentifiable calls!

Because scammers, criminals and illegal callers break laws. The DNC isn't a call blocker, its a database for honest business's to use.  Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Here is what I do, I turn my ringer to off position, and my answering machine on, so they don't leave a message, and I don't hear the phone ring all day, just the important people leave a message , as I just see my caller ID just light up.

This no. Called our home everyday, look like my phone no. On their list, they check us every day, sometime twice everyday.

Just received this phone number a few days ago.  This annoying person/s called me and said nothing when I answered!!!!!!  Spammers!!!!!!!!

About 2-3 years ago, my father-in-law had received calls from this number telling him that he owed money to IRS and that if he didn't pay, he will be arrested. He is elderly  and he didn't know any better; therefore, he believed them. Luckily the person didn't get any private information out of him, but  wanted him to "meet" at a location for the money exchange. Luckily my husband happened to stop by the house right as he was about to leave to withdraw money out of the bank. The caller insisted that he stayed on the call till the transfer occurred. Thank goodness my husband stopped him and threatened the caller. They immediately hung up and never called again.

Ironically, I just started getting these calls about two weeks ago at my direct line at work. I always miss the call as they call after business hours, usually around 6pm or so. The voice-mail is a robo call stating to call back with a reference number. There is no live person, or a name of the call. I did some research and found that this is a scamming debt collecting agency called CCA, based out of MA. Little do they know that I am an investigator and have few contacts that can really mess with them. I called them back and tried to catch them in their own lie. Unfortunately, there isn't enough information available to take any legal actions against them. They will sometime call from an "877" number as well.

The best thing to do is simply ignore them. It is annoying, but don't fall for it.
