Received a call from this number, stating I was being charged with tax evasion.  Asked if I have an attorney's number on hand. Very heavy accent, and very static connection.  When I asked for a name and number to call and confirm, he said what seems to be the problem? I told him he was full of crap, IRS does not call on a bad connection and he said okay well thank you and hung up.....

My answering machine received the same message about IRS fraud. The caller identified himself as someone from the Internal Revenue "Services", but the static on the phone line and his thick, possibly Indian, accent prevented my hearing his name. I heard the words "arrest" and "lawsuit", and "do not disregard" within the bad connection. I am appalled that people actually fall for this. He finished with "thank you very much", as it is best to be polite when you are trying to steal from a stranger.

Just got the same message on our machine.  I asked to talk to someone else because his accent was so heavy.  I kept asking him questions and he finally hung up.  I called back after he hung up and got an answering machine.  What a jerk.

I have gotten two calls now from this number - one saying he was the Dept of Treasury and one from the IRS.  Same as others have said - heavy accent and static.  When I told him I highly doubt that he was from the IRS he told me that was "ridiculous".  How many older, fearful folks get sucked into this!?

Left message on answering machine. Heavy Indian accent, lot of static and background noise/conversations, said his name was James Robinson or something close. IRS tax evasion, threatened with arrest from local authorities, etc. Complete and utter scam.

Virtually the same experience as with the above posts.  Caller left message the first time on answering machine and has called again twice in two days.  These times, however, caller did not leave messages.

EVERYONE should be aware that the IRS, SS, etc. NEVER call but ALWAYS and EXCLUSIVELY use hard-copy, official stationery and postal service to conduct business.

Received a call at 7:00 am from the "Internal Revenue Services" tax audit department. I told them I wasn't home, can I have his name and number to call back. He left the name William Reece at 201-839-0574 and to give claim # 89681 when calling back. He had a think either Indian or English accent and there was a lot of static on the line. Knew right away he was full of crap.

Something about tax evasion, was garbled and got cut off. Dear 800 notes--why don't you have 'phishing expedition' in your 'call type' box?

Got a call from this phone number. Called back and the person hung up on me when I asked why they were calling my cell phone. He was very rude and hung up on me twice, not willing to answer my questions. Obviously a scam and they knew I was on to them.

Received a call from david miller stating he was from IRS and going to file lawsuit, freeze all assets, bank accounts, pensions, social security....blah blah.  Also was going to have me arrested by Sheriff..asked to speak to superior as he was Asian, indian or other foreign nationality. Got superior on phone William Blake...both gave me"ID badge nos for IRS" and generic reference file no.  When I stated I felt this was a fraud call and asked for the IRS mailing address to write them he hung up.  This was reported this date to the US Treasury Dept in Washington, DC at 1-800-366-4484. I suggest all who get calls from this number to do the same to try and stop these calls.

Got a call from someone with a thick Indian accent, identifying himself as Jason O'Connor from the Internal Revenue Service. He said there was a legal petition for tax fraud which is about to be submitted to the court if he doesn't hear from me. And that immediately following this, they will issue a warrant for my arrest. This is a pure scam!!!!

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

This just happened to me Jan 30 approx. 12:15 PST   William Reece IRS Senior Officer Legal Dept badge 89681.  This was very strange.  It took me about 4 minutes where I just told him I didn't believe him.  He said they had sent me certified letters on 2 occasions.  I work from home as does my wife.  The number he game me to call did not ring on approx. 8 tries.  On the 9th this bozo answered it.  DO NOT get fooled by this low-life.
