Didn't receive a phone call, but a text message saying "Apple is looking for people to test & keep the new ipad 3! But only the 1st 1000 users that goto (url) and enter code BETA will receive it!"  Received to a cell phone on the Rogers network in Toronto, Canada

Received this text as well, i.e., purporting to be a "test and keep" contest concerning the new ipad3 to the first 1000 users who go to the url as reported above by Angela. Seem to be a lot of ipad scams these days, perhaps the same 'group' and/or related groups operating from different numbers, with this particular number texting not just one but two messages to my Southern ON cell phone, which is on the "do not solicit" list. Legitimate companies honour that list, scammers do not, and as I don't sign up for contests of any sort, much less not with my cell phone/texting, it is nothing but a scam. Very annoying, and do so wish Apple and/or privacy commissioners/regulators would clamp down on these things, particularly since this particular group is purporting to be associated with Apple, disparaging its good will/trademark etc. in turn. Good thing about these boards is that everyone can find out about these scams as quickly as they set up operation, so people can avoid them just as quickly in turn. Since these things are out there, and because they call/text in the middle of the night or at least did so in my case (i.e., outside ordinary reasonable calling hours, thus once again offside which no legitimate company would dare do, there being regs about that such that this is once again nothing but a scam, and only) it's to the point that at night I put my phone on vibrate, so as not to be distubed. Woe to any family member or colleague, etc. who might have an emergency and have need to get ahold of me in the middle of the night in turn, as I will no more hear their plea for help than I do the scammers call/text. It is most disturbing, with text and email scams only getting worse according to news reports until regulatory steps are taken; meantime, I say again, thank goodness for these boards, so as to keep up with these scammers and protect ourselves in turn. yeah I got the same thing, and I did it, but idk i think it's fraud. :P but I did it anyway, cuz all I got is time, and if they gonna ask me to give them money, or somethin, I'm gonna ignore it... lol

They texted me at 1:30am with the same thing. How annoying!!!

I registered for two sites the day before I got this text - Etsy.com and weddingpaperdivas.com did any of you register for the same sites right before getting these texts?  I'm wondering if they gave out my phone number.
