- BobCalls several times a day, with no person on the other end
- Dianne| 4 repliesSeveral calls daily, person on other end has very thick accent, difficult to understand. States they are with the US Federal Government Grant Agency and I've been awarded a grant because I have not filed bancruptcy. When asked what the grant is for they say because I'm good at paying my bills, when I asked how much money it was going to cost me to get the grant they hung up. Now getting 1-2 calls per hour as hangups.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DaFox| 1 replyIt is a scam.
The government does not offer grants to individuals for personal use.
It is a scam ran by off shore con artists to trick you into sending unrecoverable money to them.
They will say you need to get prepaid money cards, like Green Dot and load them with you own money or to wire transfer funds via companies like Western Union for fees or tax. Once you give the details from the card to the scammer, they clean out the card. Once you wire transfer money, you can not recover it.
You loose your money, you get nothing.
The only legitimate avenue for government grants is through www.grants.gov which is the official US government web site for grants.
From their FAQ concerning fraud:
http://www.grants.gov/web/grants/support/general-support/grant-fraud.html
Please note the following:
No government grant-making agency will make phone calls; send email or letters to solicit money or personal banking information from a potential grant recipient.
There are no processing fees for federal grants.
Federal grants are not issued for personal use, but are intended for institutions and non-profits to carry out projects with a public purpose.
Know who you're dealing with on the web. Scam artists will often post a website with a name similar to a legitimate site.
If you have provided personal banking information to anyone claiming to be associated with a Federal grant agency, call your bank immediately to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
If you receive a call, mail, email, FAX, or any other form of communication soliciting you for a grant, STOP.
It is a scam.

- SPM| 3 repliesI am receiving several calls daily saying they are with U.S. Government. This afternoon I was outside and when I came in I had a call from 202-011-0001, which I did not return. My cellphone and house phone are registered on the no call list.
I am a 79 year old widow and I would classify this as harassment..- Caller: Do not know
- deborah isaacs| 2 repliescall saying from federal gov for grant
- Call type: Telemarketer
- RRI've received numerous calls from this number. Some I ignored and some I answered. I've asked from my number to be removed from their call listed each time I've answered. Those that I did answer had something to say about me being selected to receive a federal grant. I am filing complaints with each call.
- CarolSeveral calls a day. When I call it back I got a message saying that "my account is not authorized to call this number". Very annoying.

- AnniReceived three calls this week. Today I decided to answer. A woman with a heavy accent asked for somebody who sounded like my husband. I asked who she was and she hung up.
- Jules replies to DianneI just got the same call. I really don't trust it at all.
- Jules replies to DianneThey said that I was going to get $8,000. The call back number is 1-206-317-1330 to talk to the account manager. What a scam.
- ClarissaGetting multiple calls a day. Asked to be removed and nothing happened. Demanded to speak with a supervisor and they hung up.
- Caller: Unknown
- Reeta replies to DianneJust got off the phone with "Jack" from the "US Government Grants Dept" who was trying to give me a $8000 grant. So of course you know it is fake, the accent alone and the lack of proper English grammar was first key. So I entertained him, until I asked him where he was located and he said "Washington, DC" so I asked, what building on what street, he said "111 OK" So I say, "OK isn't a road in DC" so he hung up.
- AnonymousCalled several times today. Finally answered after the 3rd or 4th time. A man with a strong accent claimed that I had been chosen from my area to receive a government grant of $8,000. When I told them I do not need the money, he told me I HAVE to take the money. I told him that I do not need to take a dime from anyone and he insisted that I NEEDED to. If I did not take the money who would call me every day from here on out and that he would call back later. I demanded to be taken off their call list and put on the do not call list. He said he did not care and would call me again later. Towards the end of the conversation he started saying "baby" at the end of every sentence. I found them to be disrespectful and annoying. This is a complete scam. DO NOT ANSWER ANY OF THEIR CALLS.
