- Jan| 1 replyJust got a call from a heavily-accented man "Jeff Gordon" from the Tax Crime Investigation Dept. for the IRS. He said I was being investigated for "money-laundering" meaning I'd sent money (unreported to the IRS) overseas four times in the past ten years. Etc. Etc. I was polite because at first he scared me but later "Jeff's" accent put doubts in my mind. If he had said he was Abdul or Kareem, I might have actually believed him, thinking a new U. S. citizen had been hired by the IRS. When I loudly proclaimed my innocence, he said he'd do a further investigation and he'd get back to me in a couple of hours. I said thank you....how can I reach YOU? and he gave me the 202-239-8723 number. What a horrible way to start the morning. Jeff Gordon - may Karma catch up with you soon!

- happyPaul replies to JanI had a call from the 202-239-8723 saying they are from Tax Crime Investigation of IRS and they have a warrant for my arrest for money laundry??? First it was Johny Cruze with attitude and accent which I didn't buy. He transferred me to his supervisor, Jeff Morgan or Jeff Gordon (also with Indian accent). He said IRS has a file on me for money laundry and they are there to help. I remembered sending a little money to help out with care giving of my old mom in the old country so I believed him. He indicated that I needed to get $1,990 in MoneyPak and IRS would drop the case. It was fishy that he kept me on the phone and didn't want to talk to anyone about this confidential matter!!! He then indicated that an additional $3,200 was required for court cost and the Sherif's office. On that note I ended the conversation. These guys are bad news and make bad name for Indians. Report them to Treasury Dept at 800-366-4484 and help lock them up!
- PhyllisI too received a call from 202-239-8723 from jeff morgan. I then was given to Jason Fletcher who said he was the senior investigative attorney for IRS and could I provide him with my attorney's information. I then said I don't have an attorney but am on the website showing the phone number and names of Jeff Morgan, his name and Johnny Cruse AND HE HUNG UP ON ME. What a scam! Glad I looked up this info before contacting them.

- rex replies to mathewThis an Indian based IRS scam. Do not fall for this. read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm
Also report it to your local law enforcment agency. The scammers use magicjack (YCom corporation) voice over IP lines. This is against their terms of use and can lead to termination. However law enforcement has to initiate the contact with Ymax. If you are really annoyed: Call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams are ongoing all over the country, maybe this will trigger a reaction.... - SandraGuys! I won $2.5 million and a new Mercedes! But to verify delivery I needed to call: 202-239-8723, which of course had a cacophony of dogs barking and a woman with a heavy accent. They're changing up their game, so be aware! The scam has changed but theyre still trying to scam people.

- BWIndian guy called and told me I had a warrant for my arrest for violation of federal tax regulation, violation of internal revenue court, theft by deception, willfully misrepresentation to a government organization. When I told him that I was calling the IRS scam line he hung up on me, so I him back it went to voicemail twice and didn't sound very professional especially not like someone who was an IRS Agent. He said his name was Mark William and told me I had to stay on the phone with him and make over an hour drive to go make a payment to the IRS. He gave me his "supervisors" name and phone number Chris Malone 202-239-0798 also a middle Eastern Man but he never picked up the phone. I was hung up on again by the first called "Mark William IRS AGENT, AGENT #IRM57023 a different man picked up the phone and identified himself as an officer. It was clear it was the first man I spoke to trying to cover up his Indian Accent. I mentioned I was on the IRS scam page and he hung up on me telling Mark wasn't there that he had left already.
