This is the number the guy gave out but when I called it, it goes straight to a generic voicemail with no identifying information.

- NancyI have been getting repeated calls at my home from David Johnson at this number, claiming to be the IRS. They are asking for my previous married name, which I have not used in 9 years! Now he is calling my cell....when I called back and told them that is not my name, I was told they will send court documents, show up in court, and they hung up. Persistent scammers!

- Caller: IRS scam
- Ronnie| 1 replyGot a call this morning around 7:30 a.m. Rang three times before I finally answered. It was a fellow who called himself David Miller--a "paralegal" for the "IRS DEPARTMENT". Told me to call Daniel Pederos regarding a problem with my last year's tax return. When I asked the problem, he mumbled something I couldn't understand and told me something to the effect that I would need to speak to Daniel Pederos at 202-241-1818.
I went to my office and called from a business line rather than my home phone. The call went to a generic voice mail. In about thirty minutes, I received two calls at the same time from 1-800-829-1040. It was Daniel Pederos. He told me his name, that he was with the IRS and that someone had called from this number. I told him he was NOT with the IRS and I had checked up on him and knew all about him. His reply, "O.K., I'll see you in court, m----r f----r, and he hung up on me. I don't think real IRS agents call people m----r f----r. - AlisonGot two calls from this number saying he's from the IRS about legal action. When I called back, he said he was from the Internal Revenue Service. I asked, how do I know you're from the IRS? He said, there is nothing I can say to make you believe that. He then asked for the name of my lawyer. I told him I would not give him the name of my lawyer. Then he mumbled something about meeting my lawyer at the courthouse, and hung up. Idiot.

- TomGot an old lady called this morning, claims to be IRS. Could not understand her English. Scam.
- SohailIndian accented man claimed to be John Williams (my favorite guitar player), told me that there was a ?deficiency? in my tax records. Well, I told him I'd need to talk to someone else and that's when he hung up. I am expecting another call…. til then, don't give them any info or payment information.
- Caller: IRS (not really)
- TerryCalled around 7 a.m. on a Wednesday (in the mad rush to get to a meeting at work). Guy with heavy Indian accent and English name using some non-colloquial verbiage. Seems they are reading off of a script. Didn't ask for anything. Creepy scammers - obviously foreign - using a Washington D.C. number to spoof folks.
- Caller: phony IRS
