Another number or scams

Caller had thick Indian accent and claimed to be officer Kevin smith from the state department of investigations. Called at 7:30am and again at 9:27am, leaving messages both times. Threatened legal action if call not returned.

Reported them to the FTC. Don't mess with mama bear!

Just got a call from this fake "crime department", it sounded like another Nizerian Scam for Identity Theft and phishing scam. I am reporting to federal investigation agencies and FTC. Listening to the fake American accent, these rogues need to learn good English first. Definitely, this crime ring looks like operating out of US.

I received a call from same number with name 'Kevin' saying officer from IRS.when started questioning him saying IRS will never call people like this, said he is not from IRS but representing IRS.....thanks for this post it helped me!

Got a call from 202-241-2007, claiming to have approved a loan in my name.  The man had an Indian accent.  When I called back to tell them I did not apply for a loan he would not give me any information.

I also received voicemail message from this number 2012412007 saying it was state department threatening that i must return the call or it would be a legal matter. Total scam!!!

Meant to type 2022412007. Previous message had a typo.

Eeeeek!  Another foreign accent left a message that I had been approved for a "payday" loan that I applied for up to the amount of $10,000.  Had my name.  Scam, scam, scam.   Gave a "code number" and said to call this number back.   I will not be calling this number back.   #1 I do NOT have a "payday".  #2 I have NOT apllied for any loan.  This one goes to the local police & the AG for my state.  TIME FOR THIS TO STOP.  I have selected call type as "telemarketer" because they don't have an option for scam.

Whites pages search reveals this is a "ymax oration" phone.  Ymax oration is a "magic Jack" service that allows phone calls without paying a phonebill. So what "boiler room" is this creep really sitting in??  "Ripoff Report"  has several pages on
ymax scams.  Stay alert, honest people.

phone message said I had been approved for a $10,000 loan.  Did not return call.  Sounded like a scam as I did not apply for a loan anywhere.

I just received a call 202 241 2007. He asked me if I had got a call from the police regarding a case against me. When I  replied no, he said that he was going to transfer the call to his investigating officer. The guys called himself "James Brown" and he had a Spanish accent. Before he transferred me I asked him if I could have his permission to record this call and guess what... no response. He hung up!! [***].

Man with a thick Indian accent called twice & left a message the second time threatening legal action against my husband if I didn't call the number he gave me back. Caller ID said the call came from Washington D.C. A complete scam.

Got call twice.  Need to call Kevin Hobbs, to avoid legal action. Indian accent. Total scammmmm

At first I thought what, from Washington DC. I'm in trouble.  I would get call from local enforcement and not from Washington. TOTAL SCAM

Left message on my machine while wife was listening. He had an Indian/foreign accent, said he was from Washington DC, State Department or something. He said I was facing legal action if I don't respond. She called me at work to see what it was all about. Luckily I compared notes with this site and others and ruled it a scam of some sort! Its too bad that there are probably people out there who fall for this sort of thing.

Yep.,.I got the same call from James.saying he was from the state investigation dept...IRS..was gonna audit us...we need to call back asap or there will be legal consequences....S O B

got a call from 202-241-2007.  As I didn't recognize the number on my cell phone, I didn't answer. Male with a strong Indian accent said I had been approved for a loan and to call back.  of course, I never applied for a loan because I AM DEBT FREE, and I did not call back.  this is an obvious scam.  

Man asked for my son so I told him I'll take a message in what reference, he said he had  opened up an account with them. I asked with whom and needed his name and number. Silence on the phone , then and he quickly hung up. TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!    Googled the number and got this web page.

Apparently my application for an installment loan with CashAmerica has been approved. Funny - I haven't applied for a loan of any kind since college, and I've definitely never dealt with CashAmerica. At least this particular scam leaves a voicemail. Very considerate. Lol

Just got a voice mail from 202-241-2007 saying I was approved for a loan from CashAmerica.  I have never heard of this company or have applied for a loan.  Also, I think it's funny how this number could be for a "officer from the state department of investigations" OR a phone number for a loan approval.  LOL
