- Dan in Mass| 8 repliesCaller said he is from the IRS - there is affidavit with a serious charge against me.
I asked for more information, and he said I need to talk to his supervisor, I asked him if he was just some lackey making calls without knowing what he was doing. I am not authorized to give you any further information.
I said I just has one question before he transferred me to his superior. He took offense at my asking him if his mother ever found out who is father is, or did she sleep with any goat walking down the street.
ANYONE reading this - you do know that the IRS will only contact you by registered mail and not on the phone/e.Mail- Caller: IRS

- Rosemary in MDHad a call from this number, a few days ago. Message was from a man with a heavy Indian accent, saying his name was Officer Paul Rogers and calling from the IRS. He says there is a case against me for legal affidavit, my identity is under investigation and there are 3 federal charges against me !!! Did not call back, as I am sure they would send a legal letter before making a call about anything.
- Caller: IRS
- bobsame exact message as the above!!
- Ahmad RasheedMy name is Ahmad Rasheed, I recieved a call today from this phone number, an east indian gentleman was on the phone threatening me being arrested with no charges from the IRS. If I didnt release information about myself. The first question was 1. What is your social security number? I said to him if you're an IRS investigator you should have this information. The second statement was give me a credit card number, and I won't send the local police to your home, to arrest you. I said to the caller who'm name is allegedly Sam Parker badge #TC1943, CASE #07614549. I told the caller, I did not know that the IRS was out sourcing calls to India for collections. I askesd him again what am I charged with? Mr. Parker stated the charges IRS has against me are confidential. I advised the caller to send the local police to arrest me and, have a nice day in hell.

Is there way to report this to the cops ? - Ron PaulGot a call from this number, he said he was from the IRS and wanted to talk about some tax issues, he had a very thick accent, he said he wanted me to talk to his superior, I hang up on him -he called again, he asked me why I hang up on him -I told him I was trying to trace his call, I knew right away it was a scam call. I call the same number later, he answered, I try to order some pizza, I could barely hear him and I told him to hold on for a few minutes, my superior wanted to talk to him for a special order. I call him again, this number went to a voice mail -this is a Magic Jax number and I could not leave any message -moral of the story, I could not place my order for a dozen X-large pepperoni pizza. This is a scam phone call.

- Badge714 replies to SeanYes it is. The IRS WILL NOT call you unless you call them first. The IRS sends you a letter. Everything in writing, by US Mail. You WILL NOT be randomly called by them, & they WILL NOT threaten you with arrest, or ask for money - Especially not to be paid by wire transfer (Western Union, MoneyGram, GreenDot, MoneyPak, etc.) Of course how would you know that in Asia.

- Caller: "IRS" Fake
- Bug replies to Sean| 2 repliesWe handle 'federal officers' calling on the phone by telling them that we don't do interviews on the telephone and that they should make an appointment if they wish to speak to someone at our house. Claiming to be an officer or investigator does not give them any more privilege on my phone than any other stranger. Of course if they are legitimate, they can stop by the house any time they wish.
- Photo-ID, too! replies to Bug| 1 reply... but they will also have to show us two (2) forms of photo identification before we will talk to them. <joke>
- Bug replies to Photo-ID, too!Haha! Of course - turn the table!
...Actually, if a 'process server' shows up without a Sheriff's vehicle, he'll have to produce ID and his server license, for real. - ANonieMouseThe caller is not an IRS agent. He is a coward hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service. He's no better than a common criminal using a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.
You can verify that this is a magicJack number by searching for it at http://www.phonevalidator.com .
IRS scam calls have been extensively researched at
http://www.pindropsecurity.com/consumer-fraud ... irs-phone-scam/ and it was found that magicJack numbers are frequently used, and many of the scammers are operating out of India, despite the fact that your caller ID shows a US number. There is even an audio recording of a call returned to one of these numbers and a written transcript of the recording contained in links from the Pindrop Security blog.
MagicJacks are readily obtainable outside of the United States for about $100 US and can come with up to a year of free calling to the U.S. and Canada. In India, see, for example,
http://magicjack.in .
So it doesn't take long to turn a profit, even if only 0.1% of the people they call are stupid enough to believe the scammers.
In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and/or your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp. This is a fully-owned subsidiary of the company that sells magicJacks. YMAX Corp. is in charge of assigning telephone numbers to magicJack devices. I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.
The YMAX Corp. main web page is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com
and their site giving information on how to lodge a complaint is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com/contact.html
Note that the "contact" website gives a clickable link to a "live chat" where you can make your complaint. - Shahid GilaniReceived Call from 202-241-2019 and left message that he is IRS officer. Please investigate and block this number
