They call your home phone and tell that you have committed a tax fraud and they are sending police.  They want to take your personal information or ask you to send the payment.  When confronted the person on the other side starts using profanity and starts abusing in Hindi(Indian language).  Seems like they have magic jack number and they initiate calls from India.  Do not fall trap to this scamsters.

Got call from this number claiming to be officer Brian McAllister of Crime Investigation unit of IRS. Asks to call back immediately as there is a tax fraud case against me. Fakes his accent but looks like an Indian or Pakistani or of similar decent. He is a fraud. No need to return his call. May report to FTC, IRS or FBI if he bothers again.

This IRS scam is being perpetrated from a magic jack Voice over IP phone (Ymax corporation). Their terms of legal agreement do not allow for fraudulent us of their services. If you have been harrassed by this number, please apart from the Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) and the FTC also contact your local law enforcement agency, report the attempted scam and that a magic jack number was used for this purpose. This will help to shut this number down quickly as they can contact the legal compliance department of YMax Corporation (Tel: 561 5863380)

Got a call from this number claiming to be Brian McAllister of Justice Dept. Left a message with my wife to call him at this number. I guess he is very hopeful. The accent and call quality made it hard to believe and a Google search confirmed it.

There's a terrible IRS phone call scam going on.  A message was left for me at my parent's home where I haven't lived for over 20 years. The man claims to be Brian McAllister, from the IRS of the Criminal Investigations Dept. He demands to be called ASAP and the "Criminal Investigation" is about the victim (aka, me!) of the scam. He left a full voice message on my parents recorder!
    • Caller: YMax? NOT IRS

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Reiterate ... -Telephone-Scam

    Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I got a call from 201-241-2053 from a accented man claiming to be from the Criminal Investigation unit of the IRS. He said I had been reported to ITS for fraud and money laundering. When I asked why official mail had not been sent on the matter he went off on me and hung up. Total scam the number lists as District of Columbia and he even answered the phone IRS when I called back the number.

Called me this morning claiming that he is officer from IRS ?? Told him i know its a fraud and ended the call , then amazingly when i called back a woman answered that this is the IRS HQ ??? And i demanded to talk to someone in charge , min later a guy talked to me and said that another officer will call me for this issue and closed the phone  (apparently  those people do not afraid of tracking their phone and busting cause they are living somewhere outside the country )
So annoying even if you know its fraud
I need to do something about these calls ??

This a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for this.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm
The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone. Report it also to your local law enforcement agency. The scammers use voice over IP lines (e.g. magicjack (Ymax corporation)). This is against these companys' terms of use and can lead to termination of their contract. However only law enforcement can initiate the contact if you yourself are not a customer. Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad or New Delhi. If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction (and the NSA can finally be a force for good).

I received a call this morning from an "IRS Tax Fraud" Investigator, asking for my attorney's name.  I asked why I hadn't received anything in the mail, the response was "an affidavit was sent in the mail".  Of course, I knew that I filed taxes with Turbo Tax, and have nothing to worry about, and considering the heavy Indian (Hindi) accent, I realized that this was a scam and hung up.  I have since reported this call to the IRS fraud division indicated on this helpful website.

Received a voicemail from an officer Julian Marshall (heavy Indian accent) with the criminal investigators of the internal (mumbled something unintelligible) service. Said I was being investigated for fraud and to call back immediately. Left phone number 202-241-2053 and said to have a blessed day.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
    1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can help the government establish specific fraud patterns and support the efforts to track these "scambags" down.

    2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of use and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. However, most of the time only law enforcement can initiate the contact with the telecom company if you yourself are not a customer. Therefore, do a reverse look up of their telephone number (www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider (e.g. Ymax, Level 3 Communications, Bandwidth.com etc.). Then, if you cannot file a complaint yourself at the telecom company's website or over the phone (as is e.g. the case with Level 3 Communications), report the scam and the used telephone number to your state attorney general and/or to your local law enforcement agency (by the way: a good idea regardless) so they can get in touch with the company's legal compliance department.

    3) Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad or New Delhi. So if you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). So if you want a SWAT team kicking in doors of call centers on the subcontinent (and who doesn't), take a little time to write and voice your anger. You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful!) or email:

Heavily accented woman stating she was Officer Julian Marshall of the IRS calling to speak to my husband about his IRS fraud activity. Said he needed to contact them as soon as possible but refused to tell me what their hours of business were and she hung up on me. When she asked for my husband she seemed to be unsure of his name.
