Threatened to arrest me and search my house, says from the DEA SCAM ARTIST

Called me didn't get to me I just went round and round until he hung up.   If they were actually the DEA I doubt they would call. They are calling a clean boring suburbanite.  As soon as I said just tell me what you want as you are calling my private unlisted line they hung up.

Called said name was Monroe and he was a DEA agent. Said doing an investigation to call back. Pretty sure same scam on all news station.

My guy's name is Castillo. Finally got to the point where I was to pay them for the fine. Scared me to death though.

Got the same call....been a while since I've had these dumba$$ scammers call me.
"this is Manuel Castillo from the D-E-A, the drug enforcement administration, department of justice" the lame head could hardly pronounce administration and REAL DEA would not call...
They would show up at your door with a warrant.
This is just a scam to try and get you to "pay a fine" over the phone, to "avoid prosecution". Basically that amounts to taking a BRIBE! And then there's the next issue...
They are willfully impersonating federal officers. That's a Felony....big time.

My favorite thing to do? Call them back, tell them that no one by whatever name they were asking for is at this number, but they have in fact reached Special Agent so-and-so with the ACTUAL DEA....

After that I suggest you go right to the DEA's actual website and snag the link and file a complaint, including the number and any caller id or message info, so they can go after them for the Impersonation of an Officer issue. Cheers!

The REAL DEA Website has a press release warning about these scams, here's a snippit:

"The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.  Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law."
They do mention that no federal agent would ever call you asking for money!

FEEL FREE TO CALL AND LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THE HOTLINE! They are NOT going to prosecute you even if you did buy meds online in the pase. Don't worry!

The more details and identifying info you can give them about the scammer, the better. Include the phone number they called from, the location of the caller- which you see at the top of this thread- name the person gave you while impersonating an officer, the number they dialed, and so on. It also helps to let them know if the caller had any kind of accent. And how harassing these callers are!

I've been through this one previously. They don't want to leave me alone. In an effort to get them to go away this time, I simply said "I've spoken to you before, and have even sent you the money you requested. That entire problem should have gone away." Then I hung up.

They did not call right back.

The first time this happened it gave me a good scare until I understood what was going on due to reports here. I could have gone round and round with them, but did not want to get worked up this morning as I need to concentrate on working rather than a scam. I'll call the DEA and leave this number though, and block the number.

This guy ruined my fn day I work my ass of every day to pay bills and he tells me he is going to raid and take my fiancé who does nothin but work too away for 5 to 7 years for a 6$ non narcotic pill and 250000$fine but can pay 1800 $ dollars right now get bent bro called all authorities and you are gonna go down sorry for anyone else that felt with the sameessed with the wrong crew now and the two losers that make people who have anxiety problems to start thanks you fn losers I will make it a point to make sure you do not ruin anyone else life now I got your number creep wrong guy wrong time just don't need it get a job loser

THIS IS A SCAM!  DO not worry. The DEA does not call on Saturday and announce they have a search warrant for your property.

What IS really sad is our Government is SO paranoid about it's citizens taking medicine in the privacy of their own home that we have reason to believe this might be real!  THAT is what is really sad!!   So much for land of the free!
In a very sick, very twisted way, these morons from the Dominican Republic or wherever are showing how out of control the DEA and other Government agencies have become in this country..that this would even be remotely believable .

All I EVER wanted to do was try to control my weight.  That medication has not been available for at least 5 years now. Thees scam artists need to buy a new list .

This is a scam artist.  DEA phone numbers are 202-306 not 202-241.  If you receive calls like this, tell the person that you will be reporting them for impersonating a federal law enforcement officer.  I see most of the postings here are by sharp individuals who quickly pick up on scum/scam artist.  DEA does not phone someone with threats.  DEA appears in person without prior notification.

I registered for Do Not Call Registry.  This was a threatening call and I want it reported!

I received the same message on my cell phone stating they were the DEA and I better call them back immediately.  The wpman said they were on their way to seize all my property and any bank accounts I may have.  Also I was told that I would be arrested right away and brought to federal prison.  I was very upset at first because I'm disabled and rarely leave the house.  I have a fairly boring life.  After giving it some thought... I figured it had to be a scam because the DEA wouldn't call anyone to tell them those kind of things, especially that I'm going right to prison.  Anyway, I am going to report them also.  What a horribly cruel thing to do to anyone!  They have to be stopped!!!

I Googled YMax Communications, and they are the #1 worst source of SCAM complaints on the ComplaintsBoard.Com website.

According to many of the complaints posted, they lie about everything to get you to give them money (like saying that you've been named in a lawsuit, or claiming that they represent the IRS, or offering ‘Free Government Grant money’ to recently-arrived foreigners, etc).  

One complainer said the people they spoke with at YMax had heavy Indian or Pakistani accents, so they might be based beyond the reach of American laws and have the phone calls transferred to them.

Based solely on my web research (and not on any personal experience beyond the first call I got from them), this is probably the worst telephone scamming operation I've ever learned about...
