This number called me at 10:30 am, I didn't answer, but looked up number and found it reported 1/21 as a scammer on a cell phone in the Washington DC area posing as an IRS rep .... Speaking with a thick accent.  This IRS phone scam has been heavily reported in my area in the last week.

Received a message from my office to informed me that a Mr. Alex Johnson, Badge #100379 from the "IRS" called and requested that I return his call as soon as possible.    I called the number, the person that answered had a heavy foreign accent and  did not identify the called location as an IRS office, loud music could be heard in the background.    I asked for Mr. A. Johnson and was told that they would get him.    After 5 minutes on hold, I decided to hang up.    No further communication.

IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. It has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Just received another call, didn't answer, was left a recorded message (IRS bullsh*t scam recording) this is a very poorly put together computer voice recorded message.  Screams scam and it is, I blocked this number...... Also found reports of this number calling about extended warranties on vehicles.... So they vary their scam scenario's.

I got a call from the IRS at my office number telling me they had been trying to get in touch with me beofre the IRS filed a suit against me and to consider the call my final warning.  It asked me to call 202-241-2968.  Tried several times from different phones.  Sometimes it was bussy, or would ring 15 or more times.  It seemed like someone picked up but would not answer.  Other times i would be on hold listening to music before going dead after a couple of minutes.
