Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
    1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

    2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

    3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful!) or email:

I just got a call from 202-241-3617 & a Daniel Bryan from "IRS" called and the guy who answered said he didn't call but a Jonathan Ryder had to speak with me... it was 6:40am so I was half asleep then realized something was off.  I googled the number & saw scam written all over it, so I called back asked the guy who answered again his name Dennis Peterson (which he paused & took a minute to think of his last name) then I asked for his supervisor & he said he was it. I told him if this was truly the IRS to give me the 1-800 # to Treasury Inspector General Administration he gave me some # that wasn't what I had. I told him I find it hard to believe a government agency would call from a private # and as an IRS manager why was he answering the phones... he then asked me for my tax ID # and I refused to give it to him and to him he shod have it on fr if he really is who he claimed to be, then to him I will NOT give him any personal information before checking with the real Government agency & he hung up on me.

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE CALLERS ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!

Hope this comment helps someone out there.

I got a voice mail from a guy that sounded like Indian accent! I was so excited, always dreamt of spending time with a guy who knew yoga, kama sutra and whose spirituality would melt me into his arms. I was confused about the IRS fraud thingy - is he joking!! I am a model, but I am not stupid. I am like, may be he was teasing, when all he wanted to do was to ask me out.

I put on my lipstick (I don't know why) and called him back. Instead of chit chat and asking me out, he goes into this boring discussion about IRS, taxes, arrest, police, and pay now. I am like, hello Mr. Clueless, what are you talking about. So, finally, I made my move and told him to shove his shyness and nervous talk about IRS, and tell me his real Indian name and is there someplace we could meet.

That is when he broke my heart. He said he is not Indian, he is a Pakistanee. WHAT!!! How dare you call me, you idiot, I ask. Put me on your do not call list. Right now, you idiot. He cusses at me. I am like how dare you cuss at me, you idiot. I ended the call.

    What a disappointment!!

It's a scam. The IRS does not handle any business over the phone, only by mail through the US post office. Please report this to the IRS.

I just got a phone call from this number threatening my arrest, warrant, and how I could spend 45 years in prison. They had a middle eastern accent. I was in tears thinking this was real. After I started asking questions about who filed my taxes , DOB, and so on he became more hostile. Then he hung up. Horrible experience. Please tell everyone you know about this scam.

As a general rule, if you receive a cold call from anyone with an Indian accent either 1.  offering you something or 2.  threatening you, you can be 100% sure it's a scam and you should hang up immediately and block the number.
