Just got a call from them saying they were the IRS, when you call the number you get a person who claims there is a dispute with your taxes, but does not verify who is speaking, I called back from a different number, and they said There is an issue with my taxes

Thanks RexIRS. Called my state rep to report the number.  Caller said they were Logan Smith from Criminal investigation unit calling about a miscalculation on income tax file.  I file jointly but they just had one name.

Logan Smith just called me too.  He's learning from his mistakes, becoming more believable.  I called the police from a landline while on my cell with him.  He hung up but has called back 6 times already.  I've blocked the number and will report.

Got a call from these people told me I had tax problems. The person I was talking to said his name was Max Clinton and had an Indian accent, he was from criminal investigation. He said if I did not get the problem resolved then he will report my warrant to my city police and have me hand cuffed and jailed for 72 hours and then court. He asked me to pay him $1930.00 when I said I don't have that much he asked me to pay him $100.00 in cash only no checks when I have a meeting with "Homeland Security Department" that were supposed give us a visit at our house.

I received a call from these ppl today saying the name was Max Clinton from Crime Investigation Division for Homeland Security. He said I owed 986 bks in unpaid taxes. He said to be prepared for a knock at my door from the IRS within an hour - they are coming to collect a check from me. I see that it's a scam. It really scared me for a minute. They said there was an impending warrant for my arrest.

Most of these scam calls come from outside the US.  In many 3rd world countries scamming dumb Americans is not a crime and the local police do not cooperate with police in the US.  They can't be caught.

Congratulations on not falling for the scam.

This turkey (maybe calling from there) asked for a member of my household and threatened arrest due to an assault warrant (at least that is what I could make out from the horrible connection and his very foreign accent)  Said his name is Agent Edward Kellen.  Just another t*rd in the loo.  We will ignore him and report the incident to the Police as this is a menacing message.

Confirmed fraud attempt (IRS criminal investigation department script). This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
    1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

    2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

    3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). I got call for the second time to my home phone.  Phone is 202-241-1885. First time they left messages on my recorder tellling a story of how I was in some kind of trouble and that they needed to talk to us.  My husband looked the number, called back the requested number after googling it and finding out that it was a scam.  He wanted to play the prank on them but got so angry and called them scammers and other non flattering things!  Today a few minutes ago I picked up the phone and an individual with either middle eastern or hindu accent asked for me saying he was calling from the US Treasury and that I might have already received a call for my arrest via the local police.  I asked the guy to tell me again the story while I turned the speaker on for my husband to hear.  He got again angry and told the guy that yes we had gotten the call, that the police was on its way to get me and then called him something not nice plus scammer.  After he thought we should have played it out to get all the info they wanted to be able to report.  What an annoying situation, first time we did get scared, now it's just anger that this people do get what they want because they continue to do it until they get a fish to bite.

These people are calling to confirm a home address and when you do not give them the straight information, they threaten you by saying that they are going to call your local police department to then serve you with a warrant.  Originally they called to say that I would be arrested and now they are after my husband.

They claim they are with 'Criminal Investigations', a criminal investigation company associated with tax evasion.  However when you bring up the speaking with the IRS directly, they immediately suggest you will be served a warrant.
