Got a call from Unknown caller today (9/18/14 9:07 AM), mentioned that it's IRS. Here is the voice mail from Google Voice:

"Call is officially a final notice from I. R. S. Internal Revenue Services. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS's filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number (202) 241-7044. I repeat, (202) 241-7044. Thank you."

As http://callerfile.com/n/2022417044 indicated, this number is NOT IRS.

I got the same voice message today. Do not call back

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). I too received a call and there was a recording that said I was being sued by the IRS and to call 202-241-7044 for more information.

Call from Out of Area, left the same message about lawsuit from IRS has been filed against me! If these are calls from India or Pakistan, it is not only the act of scam, but also the act of intellectual terrorism. Imagine that if this happens all over the country, it will terrorize people; making them so worry that they can't do anything as normal while thinking about it!
Action need to be taken! File a public petition to the White-house, asking to establish a committee to handle the issue; or at least make it publicly, so people are aware of it. The website to go to is https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/.

We received two pre-recorded phone call messages at 6: 44 A.M. and 6:21 A.M. on Sept 18, 2014 and Sept 19, 2014 respectively. The caller ID showed invalid phone number 37373533373 and 39323533353. The message says that there is a lawsuit against us and we need to call IRS at 202-241-7044. When I called this number, nobody answered the phone and the voice mail box was full. These annoying phone calls disturbed my whole family early in the morning while my two kids and my wife were still sleeping. They need to stop calling us immediately.

They won't stop .  They are hard core Indian scammer/extortionists located in India and are beyond the reach of US law.  Call blockers your best bet.

I just received the same thing and spent about a half hour talking with them and trying to see where they are going with this. They wanted me to go to my bank right away and get the cash and send it in money order. After i played the game with them, i told them to shame on theom about the scam they are trying to pull. i heard the guys cursing because i wasted his time lol. they are a joke. Please everyone don't fall for this. it is a scam. IRS will not file a law suit just like that.

Yes, I just got a call and leave me a message like that too.... I was thinking to call this number back, and second though , the message never said so who are they looking for ! & I do not believe IRS will just leave the message like that not even send out by mail !!! It is a Scam, Scam, Scam!!!!! Don't call back!!!

Got this call and message this afternoon. I do not believe, but still wondering... So I type the phone number 202-241-7044 on google, show up this is not a IRS number!

IRS lawsuit scam. Got mine on 9/23/14.

I have been calling them screwing around and pissing them off, funny stuff. They called and threatend my wife.

Got the same message about an IRS law suit against me 9/24/14 @ 5:18 am.  I got suspicious, so instead of calling them back at 202 241 7044 I googled their number instead.  What a relief knowing this is a scam.  Now I can breath easy.  Thanks for all the post on this.

Just got a voice message from them today at 10:30AM. Saying this is the final notice that they're filing a lawsuit against me. Scared the living thing out of me so, I googled the number and YESSS it's a scam.

I received the same thing today stating that I am going to be sued from the IRS and the IRS does not call you as they mail you paperwork!!!!
