This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
    1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

    2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances- amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

    3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful!) or email:

    IRS Scam
I received similar call two months ago and then I put the number in reject list of my Android (202-241-8198). They call me again about a week ago, since it is in my reject list, the number shown as missed call. They at least called me 5 time in the past week. How annoying!

Then I received call from this number today. I can't believe their number still active after such a long time. I reported to Federal Trade Commission at IRS telephone scam, but I don't think it works.

I am seeking a job right now, hate this people to waste my time and money (I am using a pre-paid card!)

I just got a call from Sarah Davis, with number 202-241-7085 saying I am on investigation on IRS Washington.   After a long talk, I pissed her off, she said she is going to send a police in 30 minutes to arrest me...

I received a call from this number (202-241-7085) this morning. The woman claimed to be calling me from the IRS. Sarah (I cannot remember the last name she told me), said that I had a warrant out for my arrest. She said that they sent me letters informing me of all the circumstances. The address they "sent" the letters to was my address from 8 years ago. She said that I was suppose to fill out a special form to update my information. When I asked why they couldn't get my current address from my most recent tax information she said that it is my fault for not filling out the special address change form. She kept asking me what I wanted to do about it. I asked to speak with her manager. The manager (who also had an Indian accent), kept telling me that they were sending police to arrest me in 30 minutes. He said he could put me on speaker with his bosses and see if they could do anything. It was at this point that I hung up.

I was a bit scared too.  A woman with a strange accent called me and said that her name was 'Sara Wilson' and repeated that same garbage about that there was a warrant out for my arrest for an IRS violation.  I yelled at this stupid person and unfortunately my PTSD behavior took over.  I am a disabled combat veteran and I told this piece of $hit that how dare someone call me and accuse me for something that was 100% incorrect.  Afterwards, I vented to a couple of family members and then blocked the (202) 241-7085 from my phone.  Let those [***] try to come to my place and arrest me....

I got a call from 202-241-7085, basically same circumstances described above. Really sketchy, I can hear the noise in the background from a typical telemarketing office. A woman with HEAVY accent, claiming she has a English last name. Arrest warrants issued, blah blah blah. Hung up and blocked their number. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!

    Informational post:

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail

Other characteristics of this scam include:

Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:

If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.

Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.

The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail tophishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

I received a call yesterday from Esther Rose with badge ID 852741 and phone number 347-983-0248 pretending to be from the IRS. She stated that i had a warrant arrest issued on my name and  that i was going to go to jail for violation of law stipulating that filing taxes with hr block and turbo tax based software online is prohibited by the IRS and that i owed a tax of $6000. She continues her Scam by even adding that i did not pay tax on money that i sent to family back home which is not even a freaking law. Furthermore, she inquired about my credit/debit card company and the current balance on them. After all those information, gathered she determined that i only had to pay $27 to The IRS and everything was going to be taking care of.
It was until i googled her name that i found out that she was a damm scammer. People be aware of such fraudulent scheme and report those numbers.
