- RexIRS replies to no nameThis is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm
As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.
2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances- amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)
3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). - DMSJust received the same. This is a scam and I asked him several questions he could not answer. He hung up and I bet will not be calling me back. He said he was from IRS of Washington DC. I told him he obviously is not calling from a US land line by the quality of the call.

- mary zhang| 1 replyA guy called several times due to the bad sound quality. His English was hard for me to understand. Asked for $2400+ for unpaid tax. He said I received a letter in April but didn't response in time. IRS will audit me. There some errors in tax filing. I asked him to send me a letter to explain everything he said that I am not qualify that according the law. At the end he said the local internal revenue will send me a letter about this.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - KayI received a call from Robin Wilson at the IRS this afternoon and he wanted to verify that I had received correspondence from the IRS in April 2014. I asked him to verify who he was because I could barely understand him -- Indian, Pakistani, etc. He provided my address, but put me on hold to get his supervisor when I told him to verify my SSN (which I would not give him, but asked HIM for it). He put me on hold and never came back. IDIOTS!

- Sophia replies to itcvhie| 1 replyI Received a threatening voice mail message from (202) 241-7436 on 11/13/14 claiming they were the IRS, and that they had four very serious allegations against me. They also claimed that if I did not respond, I would quickly be arrested by the cops (they actually used the word cops!). What a crock!...thanks for exposing this fraud!

- MJG replies to Jose GarciaIt was NOT the IRS!!! It was a THIEF trying to steal your money. Do not even talk to them!
- Joe B replies to VI did the same thing. I call them about 50-75 times a day. They get very upset. Its great. Just call them every 3-4 minutes everyday. They guy and his assistant started yelling at me because I fill their answering machine and tie up their lines. Everyone should do this.
- Joe B replies to SophiaThey did the same thing. I call them on average 50-80 times a day. I left soo many messages i fill their voice mail. Then they will answer every few times and yell and make threats. It is very enjoyable to see how angry they get when i tie up their phone lines to rip people off. I will continue to call 80 times a day until they change their number. Nothing else we can do. The IRS, FTC, State board of consumers, SEC ect...... and nothing has been done, how are they are still in business??? how is this? its 2014 ? If you get taken by these people, thank the FTC, SEC and the IRS for doing nothing about it.
- Mrs DarilekI received a call from this number on November 25 while out shopping. Since I have a business I answered the call but didn't identify myself as the person he asked for. The connection was bad so I hung up. He called back and left a message identifying himself as a Sr. Auditor from the IRS Robin Wilson, and stated that there were issues with several of my tax filings and that my SSN was under investigation. Further that I should get myself to an IRS office or call him back "before it was too late". It sounded very scripted and his accent made me question the validity. I did talk to a "real IRS Agent" and there really is a Robin Wilson working for the IRS, so these scammers even know the names of real agents. I am passing this along to all family and friends who may not have been aware of it. I saw last night on the San Antonia news a lady who they scared into getting them $2900.
