- Andrew| 1 replyI got a call and message from this number telling me it was the IRS and that I needed to call them immediately. I called them back thinking it was really the IRS and they told me I hadn't paid my taxes for multiple years and that they were going to freeze my bank accounts, credit cards, etc. and they were going to arrest me! I didn't give them any information at all and learned that the IRS will NEVER call you. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Do not give them ANY information. I reported this number to the IRS.
- RexIRS replies to AndrewThis is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.
2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances- amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)
3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). When I asked them who they were trying to reach they stated a prostitute & asked if they could talk to me. I hung up but it would be great if this number could be dsconnected.

- SCOTT MOORE| 1 replyThese people are not from the IRS, rather, they are gang stalkers. (Please look up gang stalking on YouTube) If you are experiencing electronic anomalies with your phone(s), chances are your phone & home computer are already bugged, this has been happening to me for at least six months now.

- SHAYI rec'd an automated call from this number on 10/30/14 @ approx 5:00pm stating that I owed the IRS, needed to make contact w/ them immediately & not to ignore this call. At the time I was pulling into my driveway at home, so I immediately called back once I got in to my home which may have been 2 mins or so later. I called and some answered almost immediately (which might I add is odd for the IRS to do). This is the I truly owe the IRS from a prev year, so I informed the male rep (w/ a foreign accent, possibly Arab) of the automated call that I had just rec'd. The rep was rude from the beginning say "what". I said look, you called me, he was like "hold on" & then hung up. I called back 3x and no answer. On the 4th time calling, the same male rep answer now saying "IRS Investigative Services". I said yes, I just called and told him the same thing that I prev said. He said "can I call you back in about 30-45min so I can look into the issue". (now this is funny) so I say & might I say sarcastically "you want to call me back", I say ok, sure, "what's your name". He replies "ah, Mark White". I say ok mr white, so youre calling me back. He replies "yes. I said ok, mr white do you have a identification number. he's hesitant and yes "ah yes". (his prev foreign accent is now becoming a bit more American). I say may I have that number sir. he say yes "my ID # is do you want to come under my desk & [***]" "would you like to do that". I cursed him up one side and down the other. he went on being perverted, etc. I hung the phone b/f even thinking b/c he had taken me out of my character by what he said. . I called back several times, they picked up hung up, sent me straight to vmail that was already full. needless to say they never picked the phone up again despite me calling then probably 15x. I even called back again today 10/31/14 around 10:30am just to see if I'd get an answer but straight to v

- MSI got the same call. The automated message was that Julie Smith - an investigator for the IRS needed to talk with me immediately. I called back the number and someone with an arab or indian accent picked up and said he was from the IRS. I didn't give him any information and told him I thought it was a scam.
