received a voicemail saying that someone was under federal investigation from a MIddle Eastern man with heavy accent and couldn't understand the message at all.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received the call from the same man stating he's from the IRS and there is a warrant in my name and that I'm being investigated. He said I need to call them back ASAP or I will be arrested. His name was Michael Johnson but he has a strong accent, I couldn't understand him. I will call the 800 provided by the IRS to check with them. I will report this number to the IRS tomorrow...I guess I don't have to worry about this because it sounds like a scam.

I got a call with the same content. Could barely understand what he was saying except "federal investigation" and phone "?02-280-7?75". My caller ID repeated the number 202-280-7675.

I guess "the government" is gonna have to show up at my door before I worry.

On March 11, 2014 I answered the said number on my caller id hoping that the caller would stop bothering us. It turned out the same guy who said that he's calling from the irs crime investigation division (with an asian accent). I knew right away this guy was a con and was about to hang up on him, but the guy threatened me if I hang up on him, he will have the police arrest me. Then i asked for his name and he told me his name was christopher johnson. I could not believe my ears hearing him saying his american name with an asian accent. I did report this con to the police and irs for irs personnel impersonator. He might try to use lyndon b. johnson on his next move.

Some guy with a strong foreign (not American) accent by the "Marvin Wilson" left 2 voicemails stating he was from the "Criminal Investigation Division" and there was a warrant out for me, etc and left the number 202 280 7675.

I called this number back from another line and a man (not sure if it was the same one that left the vm) answered the phone with, "Criminal Investigation Division". I asked him "Division of what?" and he repeated "Criminal Investigation Division" and I asked once more, "Division of what? What branch are you from?" and he replies with, "Do you know what crime is?!" and of course I responded with equal gusto, "do YOU know what crime is? are YOU committing a crime right now?!" and he has nothing to say but to mock my words like a child.

As soon as I went to put him on speakerphone for the world to hear, he hung up. When I called back on that number, it directed me to a voicemail account that states, "You have reached the Investigation division of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington DC". YEAH OOOOKAY. Let's not give these people the time of the day.

I received a call from 202-280-7675, left a message stated he was from Criminal investigation division, that my name is being identified under investigation and if I don't call soon, the police will pick me up at my house.

Guy with very hard to hear voice leaving messages saying District of Columbia is investigating me or have a warrant out for my arrest.

I just received a similar phone call today from "Agent Ray Charles."  I called back but blocked my number so that he would not know who was calling him.  I toyed with him a bit by pretending to be calling Domino Pizza to order a pizza.  A heavily accented guy said, "Sure, name and address."  I asked if this is DP and he said no.  I asked what kind of pizza he could make, he said all kinds.  I asked if he would deliver to a police station, he said, "f-----k you" and hung up.   =)

Looks like someone needs to be in a loony bin.  A real scam artist would not be leaving his own number while committing a crime.

Caller: "202" area  code  fake  calls ,  bogus / fraud  scam

I got the same guy with Asian accent one time he left a message on my answering and mentioned he is calling from IRS and the other time he said he is calling from criminal investigation FBI and gave me the cod# 0105 and his phone # is 12022807675 he said my property is under investigation and police gonna come to my door for investigation , I said we didn't do anything wrong and he said tell the police at your door . I was imbaress for a wile and want to thank this site that inform people , how  can I report him ? I hate him .  

I received the same call from some mother...f... and reported to my town police and I ask any one to receive calls from same Indian mother f or from the same #2022807675 to make police report

I have received the same call from the Indian guy today the same problem .

I keep getting calls from different numbers , mostly 206 and 202 area codes. Today was this number (202-280-7675) I *67 and redial the number playing annoying music on their answering and filling up their mail boxes. They are annoying!

I got a call this am. From Stacey Jones from the tax audit Dept. my Bp shot up asap. Because she was going on about I have an audit before she could go on about her spiel I told her off and said that no the govt owes me so theres no audit. and I asked for her info. And what dept. She could not even say what dept . I told her I was reporting her to the FBI. She would not give me the contact info on her dept. And hang up. She better not call. Ever!

I received a call two days ago, supposedly from the IRS. Called ID showed 202-280-7675, District of Columbia. The guy had a heavy accent which sounded Indian.

I'd received many calls from this same heavy accent guy claiming I'm being investigated & need to call the 2022807675 ASAP on my answer machine too. Since my name is in Asian he thinks he can scam me with IRS  threats too, so beware everyone.

Received a call from 202-280-7675 this morning from a man named Peter Smith with a moderate accent from India. Right.... then telling me there is an arrest warrant issued for me for discrepancies in my taxes for the past few years Right... so I asked this Peter Smith with an India accent what is the name of the agency and/or company he is working for on behalf of the IRS, Peter Smith wouldn't say. Peter Smith would only say "I work on behalf of the IRS" over and over again. Right... then Peter Smith would give me my file ID number and his badge number to show to me that this is legit. I already knew from the getgo that this is a scam. If there is anything regarding your taxes, the IRS will ALWAYS send you a letter in the mail and even then if you're still not sure always call the IRS first. They don't call you with someone who has a strong foreign accent, being vague on the responses you ask them, and foremostly get angry with you and arguing with you after you have fun with them by enticing them to get mad get at you! LOL

I got the same call. I told him that I don't understand what he said. He explained the same that from IRS Investigation and that IRS hire a lot of people like him to audit everyone that paid tax and heavy penalty.

I told him I already paid tax and he asked did the refund come yet. Is this for real ?
