It's a scam and a waste of your time.
Here's some info on Career Network. They're incorporated in Delaware, and operate local offices under this name, in various states. There are similar companies such as Education Bridge, Inc, based in
Bellvue, WA, that will be calling you as well, since these companies sell each other your contact information.  
Basically, they are advertising/marketing firms that submit fake job ads online, in order to get your personal information and try to sell you things.

Here's what I do:
Search through the Secretary of State's website for that State that they are incorporated in, for example, Career Network in Florida. Look up their latest business filings, and from them, you can get the name of
the president and officers of the company, and/or their lawyer. Call them and ask them if they are interested in furthering their education.
Or, do them a favor and sign them up to the calling list.

I got the same call at 3:48pm from the same number. When i answered no one was on the other line, they just hung up. The call only lasted 5 seconds. Their number is 202-403-0827

I got a call from this number too. The machine just kept on, I hung up. Everyone should check their bill, I heard they charge your phone for this. It's a scam....watch out. # is 202-403-0827 don't call it.

The call doesnt necessarily mean that you applied for a job in Washington DC. I have been getting calls from all sorts of these numbers (I am in ND) I answered one and what it is when you applied for the job online (whether it be on craigslist or where ever) there is a window that asks if you are interested in furthering your education or about your credit score and then this company will call you regarding that. The phone call I answered the lady told me that I had done that online and I remember it coming up but unfortunately dont remember doing it. I told her that I wasnt interested in the information and she said ok and hung up. I have not gotten calls from that number since, but they must outsource because I have recieved calls from other numbers that I look up on this site and there are reports of the same thing. I am unsure as how to make it stop with out talking to someone at every number, hope this helps and I am sorry if it didnt.

They just called me and left the same recording about an online job application. This must be a scam.  I looked up the number, its a land line in Washington D.C.

Funny thing is that I'm currently employed and love my job, so I haven't applied anywhere recently!

A brit-like accent for a D.C. number regarding a job nowhere near there.

I called.  Was fun.  No, really!  Verification Specialists.  Yeesh.

VS: "We just need to verify all the information you've already supplied (they're big on that phrase) for the job."

Me: "Okay.  What's the name of the company you're representing?"

VS: "Uhh, we don't have that information.  We just need to verify the information you've already supplied so we can send it in."

Me: "I gotta ask.  How are you going to send them my information if you don't know who they are?"

VS: "Uhhhhhh...."

they called and left no message. i dont want any solicited calls!

Called at about 8:20 A.M. PT. I didn't answer, but after searching the number and reading the other comments, I realized I did apply for a job and selected that I was planning to further my education. As long as they aren't looking for my information to commit identity fraud, I'm a whole lot less worried about it.

got call from this number @ 3:45ish CST 7/21.  Left voicemail.  Live person (?), indicating needed to verify info I've provided for online job applications.  Even in the voicemail it said to hold for further information.  The call/voicemail ended.  I wish I could block specific numbers such as this.

Also, voice sounded British.

I got a call from this number at 9am. They did not leave a vm but there was a recording asking me to hold for a "verification specialist" regarding a job that I applied for. I have applied for jobs (in ny) recently. However I am very leery of identity theft & fishing scams. I am wondering if this is one of them. Based on what the other ppl on this site are saying about the education questions I know what web site this is. I have applied for jobs on this site & they have been sending me e-mails claiming that they have recommended me for the positions that I applied for but I have never gotten a response from a company with a job offer. I'm confused & wondering now if I should just leave this site alone completely or if I should call the number back & try to figure them out.

I received another call from 202-403-0827 (Career Network). This is in reference to an online job I applied for -- an obvious scam; marketing ploy. Despite my repeated requests to be removed from their calling list, this time I called them back, giving them my actual cell #, then told them, "No, this is not <MY NAME>".

I was polite and told them, "I live in <HAWAII>, in an earlier time zone, and I keep getting calls". The rep was VERY apologetic and said she would "Let them know to remove my number.... and that I will no longer be contacted". GREAT!!

Then I proceeded to call my local telephone company to report 202-403-0827. They were very helpful, and instantly placed 202-403-0827 on a 90-day block, FREE of charge!

Therefore, if/when someone from 202-403-0827 tries to call me again, they will automatically be filtered to an automated recording informing them that "The number you are calling is no longer in service". What is even better, I will not hear my phone ring either!

In the meanwhile, I have filed a formal, written complaint to the BBB.

I'm in Mississippi and have been applying for work since a layoff on January 30th. I've never received a call from these people (before today) but I have been inundated with tech schools and community colleges wanting me to sign up for classes. Anyhow, they didn't ask any questions that seemed out of reason; just name, address and if I'm still available for work (and of course, the school question).
