- deanA call from "Robert Mason" today following the same format. This weasel kept my mom on the phone at least
15 minutes. She wasn't really taking the bait, just listening. She showed him plenty of skepticism, but this
guy was impressively persistent. I'm not quite sure who was giving who the bigger headache.
Anyway, all the same basic stuff; $450000 in winnings, but first send $4500 (mmmmDuh......okay lemme get my checkbook), saying to call "National Gaming Commision" at 866-978- 7912...also gave an address at
700 Franklin St. / S.E. Washington D.C. and mentioned someone else called David Miller, and something about their "claims division" at extension # 105. She said he didn't mention insurance or Lloyd's of London,
but its obviously the same ridiculous scam. Oh well.....
In an age where "alternative asset management" firms can buy up viable and healthy American businesses,
piece them out for a quick profit at the expense of honest hard-working folks, weakening the U.S. in the process, and strengthening China with those formerly American jobs; and where the man who oversaw said
activities can run for president, not standing for anything in particular other than fiscal policies that invoke Robin Hood in reverse, and whatever social policies seem to sound best for the crowd he's speaking to on any given day; and where said candidate can refuse to show any but his 2 most recent tax returns, while keeping most of his wealth in overseas tax-haven accounts, and then running on the premise that since he was able to scam his own way into riches, surely he could bring prosperity to the nation as its president........He manages to take down a full 47% of the popular vote (sweet irony), we democratic Americans (Democrats and all other sensible fair-minded folks) need to stay strong and organized.
But by all means, if you believe the "free market" is god; if you can look at the obscenely concentrated pockets of wealth that are frighteningly adept at gaming the system, influencing the market in their own favor, and *buying* political influence -- and on the other hand at the nearly extinct middle class and a working class on life support ; if you wholeheartedly believe in the kind of wild west social Darwinism of which Mr. Romney and these telephone scammers are merely 2 extremes of a whole spectrum of offenses
perpetrated on us as a result of this ethically bankrupt caricature of a once vibrant American economy,
then by all means ...... keep on voting republican.- Caller: National Gaming Commision

As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov
YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO OFFER YOU A GRANT.
The government does not contact people to offer them money. If you do qualify for a government grant, the government does not request payment for it.
THERE ARE NO FEES ASSOCIATED WITH APPLYING FOR A GOVERNMENT GRANT.
Providing financial information to prove that you qualify for a government grant is typical, but you should never pay money to apply for a grant. People who run scams often claim to provide help and sometimes claim to be "federal government" officials, don't be fooled by these scams that request money from you.
ALL GOVERNMENT GRANTS INVOLVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
If you have not submitted an application for a government grant and someone claims you have been awarded one, it's a scam. Grant money is not given over the phone for a fee. In order to qualify for a grant you must apply for the specific opportunity that you are qualified to apply for.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS ARE AWARDED FOR EXPLICIT OPPORTUNITIES
Government Grants are typically awarded to states, cities, educational institutions, nonprofits and other organizations to fund research and other projects.
GOVERNMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION IS FREE
Be cautious of offers that ask for your personal information (especially financial) when requesting a fee to access grant information. You can always access free information about government grants and other benefits at Grants.gov and Govbenefits.gov
