Things to believe:
• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to pay money for a loan or prize, BEFORE getting the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse.

- SusanI just received the same call saying something about I had received a grant from the United States Government. It was a foreign female. Told her I wasn't interested.
- JeffThis number has called me twice already. Once last October, and again just now. I hope people are smart enough to figure out this guy is not a Federal employee. The first time he called me he had a restricted number, which instantly tipped me off that he's not legit. I tried to ask him why someone with the government would need a private line, and pressed him to answer my question until he just said "F off" and hung up on me. I guess since then he's wised up, and gotten a D.C. number, but I remembered him right away. This time I asked him to name the department he's with and all he said was "Washington D.C." He's certainly not the smartest scam artist, but I'm still worried he could be preying on some people since he's clearly still operating.

- AliceMy caller id displayed this: "District of Columbia" along with the phone number. Everyone is right who says this is a scam. I just received a call from this number on my CELLPHONE and almost hung up immediately because the voice sounded so dull and monotone. I only stayed on the line when I heard $9,000 lol but knew it was bs when she told me the government was paying me this cause I've paid my bills on time and have no bankruptcy. Once she told me the only way to collect it was by providing bank account info or my credit card, I hung up right away. Also, it sounded like a call center from all the background noise. Folks just report the number then block it on your phone.

- jurujoI really appreciate this blog. I had a missed call today from this number. So glad I was not able to answer it in time. I did not call them back.....my habit when I get an unknown caller, run to my computer and put the number in and hit search. This is not the first time I have been enlightened on WEIRD CALLS by getting the information. I will list it in my address book as "weird call" so when it pops up in the future, I will know some weird so n so is calling. Will keep me from their harassment and becoming a scam victim. THANKS AGAIN for the very helpful blog! God bless.

- ChrisCalled just now from a DC number. Said I am entitled to 9k from a government grant. She was reading from a script with an accent and there was a delay in the line similar to when you call a foreign country. Total SCAM!!!!
- lexThis number called me and hung up before I could answer. It showed up as District of Columbia as well. Thanks for all of you posting your experiences. Coming Together as a community can help scam artists like this have even one less victim. It helped me when i googled the number.
- Not importantThis number just called my cell. I looked up the # on white pages and it said it was an invalid #. No message left. I never answer anyway. Trust NO ONE!!! Too much demonic activity!

- asThis number just called and just kept saying Hi over and over again in a weird voice. :/
- Pablo EscobarThis number just called me, stated that I have a grant approved for 9K from the Federal Gov't Grant Department... not sure if that even exists. The guy keeps talking and I interrupt, "If you work for the Federal Gov't, wouldn't they give you a good landline to call from, because it sounds like you are calling from a cellphone with bad reception?"... *CLICK* :) Nice try! Stupid scammers.
- Caller: Federal Government Grant Department
- AnonymousJust got a call. No answer. The weird thing was that the same call that other people are reporting happened to my mother over the weekend. She did not understand and gave me the phone. Same $9,000 scam info, I also told them to mail me the check. I also asked if I could have their number and supervisors information so I could follow up with them on Monday as most GOVERMENT agency's are closed, this is where it really got fun, they were persistent, TRIED to talk over me. Quite comical, I just hope no one falls for this garbage. The only weird thing is that I gave my mom a cell phone and the only common denominator is the same last name and its an AT&T cellphone. I wonder where they are getting our numbers?
- HI just got the same thing. I knew it was a scam but since I never actually got one of these calls before I let her talk. When she asked for my bank acct or credit card, I said I had to check into this before I have her anything. There was a silence on her end. I thought she hung up. Then she rattled off a bunch of curses at me, told me to go to hell and said why did I waste HER time???
