said he was a business man, looking for a nanny/housekeeper. Said I had responded to his ad on Criagslist for a nanny. I HAD been looking briefly on Craigslist at least 2 months ago, but not since, and did not respond to foreign listings for a man with 2 young sons. Said he was arriving from Zurich in 10 days to a Harrisburg address to rent. Did not answer my question on duration of position. Approached me first by email asking for name, address, current employment, and phone number. I gave him this and my age. Called me the next day and left a message wanting to talk about the job. Day after that he left an email saying I had the job and that he would be Fed Ex mailing me $2900 in the form of a money order for my wages and for ME to deal with the real estate agent on the rent and clean the house- BEFORE we had a chance to talk. I cut it off at this point by email.   He mentioned a fashion designer traveling wife, who would not be coming then. He did not talk about schooling for the 6 year old. Strange he did not make arrangements through a professional agency given his reported economic status. Voice mail reveals a man with a very thick accent, almost unintelligible. That is why I used the email. Must have seen my name on
Craigslist. I think this is a unique call type scam, if it is one! I have email and vm records of this.

The same guy was on Craigslist looking for a Driver, nothing was adding up, same type of call.  He gave me the same name Andre Svoboda...

so how does his scam work?  I too have been in correspondence with Dahl Thomassen....I replied to his ad on craigslist for  a nanny in NJ.   His last email stated that he would fed-ex a check for $2900.  I am not going to communicate with him any longer, but I'm just curious how his scam plays out.

Hi! I have been receuving calls from this man I though I had a job fir real as a nanny he said I was going to receive a Fed Ex travelers check for 2900 to pay the real state agent for cleaning the house and my fist week pay  he made año the story of the 2 boys and the wife  as a designer

He mails you a stolen check. You cash it- it takes the back awhile to realize its fraudulent- in the meantime they release the funds to you. Then he has you western union the money back to him.
By the time he has the money, the bank realizes it's a stolen check- and you have to pay back the bank.

I'm out $3,000!

I received text and calls from this number because I responded on a nanny add to craigslist. He used the name Marcus Lanterna and told me the same story about his wife and the money situation.

Marcus Lanterna is a real person, which is why I almost fell for it. He is from Sweden and works for a reputable company however someone is posing as him to scam us, i found his add on Tiger Recruiting Link which is an employment service for Auburn University. I could not pass up on the opportunity for $400 a week, but things did not add up, after a little digging it is a laundering scheme. Did you report this to the feds? Cause I am thinking about doing so, cause this guy is ruining people lives both foreign and domestic.

I did mot receive a phone call but all emails from Marcus Laterna! He needs an assistant to do shopping, paying bills, picking up and delivering to post office. $400 per week, same salary as many of these posts!!! I saw his posting on my college website!!

The job, administrative assistant,  was posted on a college website that my sister applied to. The original e-mail was questionable as it indicated pre-payment( typical of schemes), no formal signature and other errors. This prompted me to google the name used in the email. I couldnt find anything and discouraged my sister from moving forward with the application. The e-mail received is attached below.

Same thing happened to me! With the emails, text messages, and the posting. Thank goodness I was able to read everyone's reviews that I was able to stop before it even started.

Same thing almost happened to my son.  We contacted the bank the check was supposedly drawn on.  Who is this [***]? Who can we report this to?

This just happened to our daughter, who saw the ad in her college's recruiting website.  She took the time to thoughtfully answer the questions (those noted in the post of "Anonymous" above).  Fortunately our daughter notified us that she had found a new "job," and equally fortunate was that she had the cashier's check (which is made out to her) sent to our home, not hers.  We researched this crook and, of course, will not deposit or cash the check.  After contacting local authorities, I was advised that this is handled by the FBI.  You must file a complaint on the FBI internet crime website (www.ic3.gov).  I started to file a complaint but, since we were able to prevent being scammed, I could not list any monetary damages.  I will still end up filing the complaint, but I suspect that it will pack more of a punch if complaints are filed by those who actually have suffered monetary damages.

The exact same thing happened to me this  week and though things didn't add up I almost fell for it I took the check to my bank and they realized then and there the check didn't look right and that it was a scam once I explained the job to her. I found this on my schools college central network , I am a college student at mckendree university. It's clear he is targeting younger people, babysitters, college students , and trying to get us to deposit the money. I had never even heard his voice only communicated through emails and the day before by texts and when I called the number I realized it's a text plus number ! I should have realized because he slipped up and called himself both Andre Svodoba and Marcus lanterna on separate occasions ! Glad my bank is good and caught it before I was out of money.

Any communication and check received by US mail that is fraudulent or appears fraudulent should also be taken to the US post office so that the postal inspectors can take a look at it.  THis is also mail fraud.

Same number contacted me, very similar proposal I was naive enough to fall for it. THANK GOD I saw this post before I transferred this man/woman money!! I cant even begin to imagine that type of stress. This person is playing people so much but keeps the same number, I texted them telling them I found out about their scam so I wouldnt be surprised if this idiot changes the number and email they contact from. People please be aware if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely really is!! The phone number was +1 (202) 430-6605, email was ourofficemail5@managementlimited.net
This person referred themselves as Sandee Clawson, working for coldwell banker!
