I also recieved this call @ 1:30pm today. I was told I had been selected to recieve a $7500.00 gov. grant. But, in order to release the money, I was to call this number within an hour to have the money sent. The man askedif I wanted cash or have direct deposit, I told him cash. He gave me a so called federal ID# as well as this phone #, I then called, twice, low and behold.....no answer. Imagine that. Anyone that wabt's you to pay monet to get money is surely a scam...DON'T DO IT!!!!

‘Free Government Grants’: Don’t Take Them For Grant-ed
“Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!”
Sometimes, it’s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a “free grant” to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it’s a phone call supposedly from a “government” agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you’ll never have to pay the money back.

Don’t give out your bank account information to anyone you don’t know.

Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don’t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.

Don’t pay any money for a “free” government grant.

If you have to pay money to claim a “free” government grant, it isn’t really free. A real government agency won’t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded — or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.

    Look-alikes aren’t the real thing.

Just because the caller says he’s from the “Federal Grants Administration” doesn’t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch — or not.

    Phone numbers can deceive.

Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they’re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.

I received a call from a strange caller id #9999888888. The person calling has a very strong accent ( maybe from India ). He told me that the Federal Grant Dept has given me a $7000.00 grant money because I did not file bankruptcy. He was asking for my bank account number for them to wire the money. I refused to give them so I told them to just mail it to my address. They said to call (202) 621-0121 or just go to Western Union and pay them $250.00 as tax and will send the money to me. It's so obvious that it is "SCAM". Beware of these callers... they're "SCAMMERS"...

I got the same call said to speak with Sara rose who had a heavy accent and sound like she was in stock market office and had some of my info as far as name and address but wanted my D.O.B so I said I don't give that info out so she said ok then go to western union with ID and $280 cause western has their own fees and they'll just hold the money and give it back when I get my 7,500 so I said are you serious I give you my money first then wait to receive money back hmmmm scam? Na maybe the're are people in third world countries who live in huts and wash clothes up river and drink from down river where our rich American companies outsource and pay 20 people what they would 1 or 2 people here have $7,500 to spare for someone who lives America and is in debt for buying stuff they probably didn't need or use. Yea she said it's a government grant but if that's the case just clean my $2,900 I owe the IRS cause my last job screwed up my checks and I'll be happy, please don't be naive if you get that call tell her or him give me the money and since I'm at western union already as soon as the cash is mine I'll make you a money order and send you the $280 from that money lol she hung up on me.

I received a call from an unknown # saying I was  being awarded a grant of $7500.00 that did not have to be paid back.  The had my name etc., which just about anyone can get but when asked for my bank account for a direct deposit I refused, then the person said they could put in on my credit card, I said no and then they would pay me cash but I had to call this number of 202-436-9932, well I traced that number and it is out of DC but it is also a VOIP so that could be coming from who knows.  Any way they didn't get me as I know how to research these issues and don't be taken in by it.  It is a scam.

Got a call today from this (202) from a man with a very thick accent. I could barely understand him but he was talking about me getting a grant for over 7500.00. I asked him"What will this cost me?" And he said that it will cost me noting because I was chosen out of 12,000 people to get this money. Then he gave a Western Union code TA104 and a phone number to call 202-436-9932. I was told by him that when I call this number that I could get further information. I will not be calling and thank goodness for 800 call notes and read every body elsescomments Because I have ra sneaking suspecion that it was bull****. One thing I want to point out after that call I notice that as I was writing this that my phone rang again but it was private.
