They were very  rude and hung up on me. Demanded my cell phone number then got upset with me when I told them I didn't have one. Told me I would be arrested. Wanted me to go to the bank and recieve information on my cell phone there.

I let it go to voice message where they left an automated recording saying that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. They repeated this number twice, requesting that I call back for more info. After reading of all the scams I won't be calling back!

Caller ID showed "Pay Phone".  Automated recording stated the IRS was filing a law suit and to immediately call (202) 470-0729.  Obviously a scam - the IRS does not make collection calls from pay phones and they most certainly do not file lawsuits without first making numerous attempts to address the issues.

Called claiming they were the IRS and wanted me to pay thousands over the phone. They also asked me how much cash I had and didn't have any details on the money I "owe". After refusing to pay, they hung up on me. Threathened to freeze accounts and take me to court. They also told me they sent letters to my old house last year and I did not receive any letters from the IRS. Indian accents and asking for money on the phone. I really hope people don't fall for This !!

Called just now. Left message for an IRS law suit . A SCAM if i ever heard one.

I received the same message from a NY # and called the 202 number left on my VM. I was somehow connected to another person who received the same message - so there were two of us that had called into the number talking to each other. I told the guy on the other end that this was a scam (they say Internal Revenue Service, NOT THE Internal Revenue Service). He began to answer and we were cut off.
Not a very good scam, but a scam nonetheless.

Just got one of these calls at a mobile number I gave to my daughter 10 years ago.  I called it back and got hung up on.  I contacted the State Attorney General's office where I live and filed a complaint as well as filing a complaint on line with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.  This is a SCAM!!!!  The IRS will never contact you by phone to collect money you owe them.

I just got home and got an auto call from this number so I called back knowing that it was a scam since I have had the pleasure of a real irs audit. The person answered the phone barley speaking english so I laughed he got mad he said does it look like I am laughing or a joker, I said since I am clairvoyant yes you do. he hung up......

i called them back after reading this blog. Let's say i had some fun with them. I gave them all wrong information and played along with their scam, Until this person got mad at me and hung up. Ive been trying to call again to mess with them, but no luck, oh well... Lol.

Got a call today 230pm est., also had my identity/tax return stolen this year, so it through me a little when I heard the message on my answering machine but then remembered the Irs agent telling me that you'll never receive a phone call only mail. I keep calling its busyed out. But I gonna keep calling.

Robo call saying they were the IRS and filing a lawsuit against me. I'm retired police, come and get me !!!!!!!

Got a call stating the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and I needed to call back immediately. It was a woman on the phone. I now realize after research that it was a scam. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION!

Got a call a couple hours ago it was a voice recording saying it was the irs and there was a lawsuit against me. They said to call back immediately at that number. Tried calling back for about a half hour but it was busy every time. Thanks to your review answers I won't waste my time anymore!

I also got a call saying they tried to contact me through the mail 3 times, the last is when I knew it was a scam when the "officer" said the notification was left on my doorstep and why didn't I respond to it.  I said it was likely that it blew away since we live in a windy area.  I was then transferred to an "attorney" who said I have a warrant out for my arrest and that I could settle out of court by paying the $3700.00 and deposit it into an IRS account.  Need I say more!

Got a voicemail recorded message. IRS lawsuit. I need to return the call immediately. I'm tempted to mess with them, but will leave it alone.

Received an automated voice message - "Final notice the IRS is suing you."  Called from (718)758-9741 NY, USA. Told me to call (202)470-0729.   This is harassment.  #scam

Received an automatic voice message from phone  202-470- 0729 claim to be  the IRS  having a  law suit against me. Last week also tried another scam on a time share

Received on voicemail.  Never heard of IRS threatening to sue over phone.  DC number.
